You’ve heard the phrase before: “New year, new you.”
As we slide deeper into 2017, if you’re looking for a positive change, consider adding more wellness travel to your life. All types of travel allow us to experience new things, which helps us reach goals that we never before imagined were obtainable.

The best kind of vacation is the one where you escape and return feeling like you are a new and improved person. Wellness travel is the kind of experience where you can learn something new, have fun and also feel like you’re better for it: physically, mentally, emotionally, culturally, even spiritually.
Looking for inspiration? Here are two of the best places to add to your 2017 wellness travel bucket list to awaken a new you for this new year.

The Golden Door Spa
The Golden Door will give you a kickstart for your wellness resolutions. This Asian-inspired resort offers programs designed to help care for and transform both your body and mind.
The all-inclusive program includes fitness classes, healthy food, hiking across more than 600 acres of open space and spa treatments. Relax and unwind while strolling through the Japanese gardens or while sipping a cup of tea by the koi pond. Morning hikes take you up toward the palm tree-topped mountains, through the vegetable garden and around the orange groves.

Later nourish yourself with a healthy snack with food that has come straight from those same gardens and orange groves before your next activity. Enjoy a yoga, meditation or archery class, then work on your personal fitness goals with some of the best trainers around. This resort really tailors the experience to be exactly what you need – even if it is a light hot chocolate before bed.

Golden Door Spa rounds out your rejuvenating experience with daily massages, facials and the best good-for-you food that has ever entered your mouth.
This unique resort is all about rediscovering your own personal center and moving forward in your life from there.
Gnomad Tip: The Golden Door is my top pick on the West Coast and a perfect place for a luxurious refreshing quick fix.

The Pritikin Wellness Resort
If you are one of the many people resolving to improve your health or lose weight with the new year, give yourself a little help with the extremely educational and unique experience at The Pritikin Longevity Center in Miami. This getaway is widely considered one of the top health resorts in the world, and it has the results to back that up. Doctors themselves flock to this place.
Pritikin boasts more than 100 studies published in medical journals that track its program’s success. This proven plan feels like a luxurious vacation, with swimming pools, tennis courts, five golf courses and more within the 650 acre resort.

But what makes Pritikin notably different is the science behind it. It relies on scientifically proven strategies and guests work on their health alongside staff physicians. You can take classes on stress-management, nutrition, exercise and more. I experienced the Taste of Pritikin. This three day immersion experience enlightened me that I do have more control over my health than I had once thought. The base of my plan was to cut out a lot of salt, sugar and fat from my diet and MOVE. A great place to move is their lovely lap pool. Each guest leaves with a plan to take home and implement, so the experience becomes a part of your daily lifestyle for good.

After the day’s activities you can unwind at the spa with an included massage, then relax in the hydrotherapy areas.
Gnomad Tip: The Pritikin Longevity Center is my top pick on the East Coast and the perfect place to start up your long-range wellness goals that will last a lifetime.

My experience at both was some of the best days of my life because it gave me the power to control my health concerns. I also credit a recent weight loss of 10 pounds to what I learned from my short time at each resort. A bonus – I have more energy than I have had in years and feel that I gained two new families that include both the staff and the guests of both of these resorts.
Wellness travel enables you to return to your life refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to conquer the new year. Make your wellness travel plans today!

I need to visit these!! STAT!
I need to go to a spa for some good relaxation! All of the spas look like they are right up my alley!
Both my husband and I enjoy going to a great spa if only for the day. This year we are headed to Iceland to enjoy the Blue Lagoon and all it has to offer.
A spa sounds great! I’ve never had the opportunity to experience one. But hope to in the future!
I would love to travel to a spa. I have never really treated myself to anything like this, but I would love to do it someday!
All of these look amazing! I’m a licensed esthetician, but it’s been SO LONG since I’ve treated myself!!
I’ve never done any wellness travel, I’ve actually never even heard of it before. I’d love a spa visit, I’ve never had one.
This looks like a real vacation – getting away for a spa visit and relaxing and unwinding while moving forward in life. I would love to visit this resort.
I have never stayed at a spa before but, this looks like an amazing type of vacation. I love when I can get away for it all and just focus on myself. This looks like a place that I could do just that.
I always think of a spa as a day trip for a few hours max – never a relaxing place to stay! This looks like a gorgeous place with enough to do!
What I wouldn’t give to be at The Golden Door Spa right about now! I have never been to a spa before but hopefully that changes soon.
I’ve never been to a wellness spa but it sounds like something I could really use. I’m going to look into this a bit more.
