Summer Getaways the Whole Family Will Love

1. Palm Springs, California

From fine dining and shopping to outdoor activities, Palms Springs has something for every member of your family. Spend a day lounging by the pool at a lavish resort or explore desert nature and wildlife at Joshua Tree National Park and The Living Desert. Be sure to check out the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It’s a ten minute ride up from the desert floor to the mountain station and is one of the steepest ascents in the world.

2. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone, which was the nation’s first national park, boasts 950 miles of backcountry trails, 97 trailheads and 40 major waterfalls. There are endless activities to keep the family busy, such as fishing, bicycling, boating, camping and animal watching to name a  few. Of course Old Faithful is a must-see, but don’t forget to visit the Lower Geyser Basin to avoid the crowds and see geysers of all colors

3. Cape Cod, Massachusetts

This charming beach town is sure to please the whole family, with its miles of seashore surrounded by hiking and biking trails. One of the trails you can’t miss is the Cape Cod Rail Trail, a 22-mile paved path filled with gorgeous views all the way to the National Seashore. And, while you’re there, embark on a whale watching adventure to get a firsthand look at marine life by day before relaxing at the Wellfleet Drive-in Theater at night.

4. Colorado Springs, Colorado

In 2004, it was named America’s most pet-friendly city by “Forbes”, but there’s no doubt this city is family-friendly as well. Sight-seeing is limitless with the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods and hot air balloon rides, and that’s just scratching the surface of what Colorado Springs has to offer. Don’t forget to make a trip to Pikes Peak, the second-most visited mountain in the world. Pikes Peak was the location that inspired poet Katharine Lee Bates to write the first few words of “America the Beautiful.”

5. Orlando, Florida

This ultimate family vacation destination will have adults feeling like children again. Although popular, Disney World, Universal Studios and Harry Potter World are just a few of Orlando’s many attractions. Excite the future space explorers with a visit to the Kennedy Space Center, then cool off at the Wet ‘n Wild waterpark, or take a Winter Park scenic boat tour. The list goes on and on. 6. Key West, Florida

If the ocean is calling your name, Key West is the summer escape for your family. Soak up the sun on the stunning beaches and visit the Southernmost point of the United States. There’s also numerous snorkeling excursions to choose from for exploring the U.S.’s only living coral reef, which is home to a variety of species that can’t be found anywhere else in the U.S.
