Winter is coming! Cancun is warm throughout the year, providing gorgeous sand and water to families looking for a beach escape. We’ve partnered with Keryn Means of Walking On Travels to show us some of Cancun’s luxury family accommodations that are perfect for swim, stay and play—with all the relaxing amenities Mom could want, too!
Cancun, Mexico, is a great family destination, but finding the perfect accommodations for your family can be challenging as you wade through the sea of options. I did a little research on a recent trip down to the Yucatan Peninsula, and found two properties that have the pools and kids’ club the children want and the luxurious amenities parents crave (can you say spa?!). Both are part of the Fiesta Americana line of hotels run by Posadas, but each offers something different to cater to your family’s travel style.
Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun
The Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun is located in the heart of Cancun. It is easy to walk to the numerous restaurants in town, or you can stay close by dining in the hotel (the chef at Isla Contoy is whipping up superb seafood).
The Grand Fiesta does not scream “kids,” but it is extremely family-friendly. There are no massive waterparks or slides front and center, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t tons of fun. The hotel beaches are at the elbow bend of the city, meaning you get calmer waters on one side, while larger waves are knocking kids over further down the beach. The Fiesta Kids Club also offers loads of fun with other pint-sized guests. The club features a state-of-the-art facility, a theater room for putting on plays, a craft room, and massive outdoor space to play.
But what about the rooms, you ask? Well, there are no rooms, only suites. This property features Junior and Master Suites that can easily fit a family of four. A sunken living room with a sectional sofa creates the perfect space for kids, and gives parents a little privacy.
Best of all, this resort is home to the largest spa in Mexico. If you book an appointment, arrive an hour early for the included hydrotherapy experience. These 10 steps will get your mind and body ready to relax during your massage, facial, scrub, or wrap. It is a must when you stay at this hotel, so budget it in.
Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun All-Inclusive
For parents looking for an all-inclusive experience, where you don’t have to worry about food or budget for onsite expenses, the Fiesta Americana Condesa is the place. Kids come front and center at the pool where they can splash away in the Pirate Ship.
The Fiesta Kids Club offers supervised pool and beach games, competitions, arts and crafts, sports, and more. This is a great way for kids to get time with new friends while parents sneak in a little relaxation on their vacation. There is a spa on site; although not as large as the one at the Grand Fiesta, it can still help you wind down and get into the spirit of vacation after long months toiling away at work and home.
Rooms are spacious and offer oceanfront, ocean, lagoon, or garden views. Superior and Deluxe rooms can easily fit a family of four. If you want some space and a separate place for the kids, a junior suite will be your best option. The hotel is undergoing a massive renovation to freshen up its look, so make sure you ask for a room in the renovated sections to get the full experience.
As with most all-inclusives, your meals are included, but that doesn’t mean you can just walk into any restaurant. San Telmo is by reservation only—and make sure you check the dress code for each eatery. Some are more casual than others.
Cancun is full of fun for families this winter, whether you just want to lounge around the pool, hit the beach, or relax in the spa. We’ve narrowed down your choices for your next visit—now you just have to pick which one is best for you.
