A Disney World vacation is always fun, but it really gets magical for Halloween! We’ve partnered with writer and photographer Kelly Stilwell from Food, Fun & Faraway Places as she uncovers what’s new for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Get ready for the Happiest Haunting on Earth!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida, is officially upon us, and there’s a lot to be excited about this year! It may not feel like fall yet, but Disney World’s Magic Kingdom has been transformed and definitely feels like Halloween!

And what are kids most excited about when it comes to Halloween? CANDY! 250 TONS of it will be handed out before this event comes to an end on Halloween night!
The first time I visited Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party with my family, I think my kids were probably about 5 and 8 years old. We have so many great memories of that trip to Disney World, and many of them were from the night we spent at the party.
Fast forward more than ten years, and we now live just 90 minutes from the parks. We’re still having a blast at this Halloween party extravaganza and we’ve all agreed this last visit may be rivaling our first as our very favorite! Disney World has pulled out all the stops this year, so if you’re considering taking that vacation between now and October 31, get your tickets before they are gone!

Honestly, this year’s event was so good, I can’t imagine how they will top it next year, which will mark 25 years of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. But, of course they will! It’s Disney, after all!
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party: Activities
The Shows
Hocus Pocus
The annual return of the Hocus Pocus show brings fans back every year to see the three Sanderson sisters joined by a cast of not-so-scary Disney villains as they conjure up a Hocus Pocus Party Potion in order to cast a spell on Magic Kingdom park.

One of the highlights of Mickey’s Not So Scary event, the show just keeps getting better and better. Be on the lookout for Oogie Boogie, Dr. Facilier, and Maleficent! The Disney dancers and singers are incredible! Disney never disappoints when it comes to entertainment.

The Rides
The rides are always a big draw at Magic Kingdom and some of your favorites have special features for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
During the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, you’ll see LIVE pirates making sure guests are on the lookout for Gunpowder Pete. You never know who you’re going to see!

The Mad Tea Party ride has been transformed into a whole new look!

Space Mountain is crazy enough as it is, but for this party, you’re in complete darkness. My kids loved it!
Character Stops
Some Disney characters only come out on Halloween, so this is a fantastic time for meet and greets. Some of the characters will be at scheduled stops, but others may surprise you—be on the lookout as you never know who you may see!
Be sure to bring your autograph books! (Don’t worry, you can easily get one there.) The Queen of Hearts was signing away!

Alice and the Mad Hatter were busy seeing fans.

The Disney Junior Jam team is holding a dance party at Storybook Circus. This is the spot to dance the night away with Disney Junior Characters like Doc McStuffins and Timon from The Lion Guard.
Frontierland is holding a Costume Promenade. This is the place to show off those costumes (and get more candy!) I always love seeing guests dressed up.

What a great time for those who venture out to Disney World this time of the year!
Truly, a huge variety of things to do, to see, to experience with all senses and with the best people who join you in your magical Disney adventures.
It really is a great time of year to experience all Disney World has to offer!
This was our first Disney Halloween with our daughter and 5 year old grandson. He had a great time, loved the grave diggers and lots of candy!
The Halloween party is one of our favorite things at Disney. This is such a great guide.
It’s one of our favorite times to visit, too, Robin. I’m so glad you found the guide helpful!
This is such a great resource! Disney always does an amazing job when it comes to the holidays.
They really do, Stacie. It’s only September, but they’ve already got me in a holiday mood!
We love Disney at Halloween. It’s almost more fun than the show they put on at Christmas. It’s just the right level of family-friendly spooky.
Yes, Dana, I agree! And the Hocus Pocus show was just amazing. I think it’s the best show we’ve ever seen there!
This is a great guide! We’ve been to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween three times. It’s become a yearly tradition.
Thank you, Colleen. We try to go every year, too. I’m glad you found the guide helpful!
This place sounds like a lot of fun for the whole family. We love Disney, and this would be one attraction we’d have to see.
You really should go, Brianne. There’s nothing like celebrating Halloween at the Disney parks!
How awesome is this! I know my kids would like going to this. Disney always does holiday themes the best!
It really is so much fun, Danielle. Your kids would absolutely love it!
What an experience. I love that Disney make it cute not scary to have a good time during Halloween season!
I agree, Kiwi. It’s nice that the kids can enjoy Halloween without all the too scary stuff.
What a fun party! It’s always so nice to see what costumes everyone comes in! The unique foods are fun this year, too.
I agree, Kimberly. I saw a family dressed as characters from Mary Poppins and it was so well done! I loved all the foods, too! I may have to go back before it ends!
My children would love this, and me too. I am not fond of really scary stuff, but this Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party looks more like a foodie event than a spooky party. We may not be able to be there this year but I know of some friends who have planned for a trip. I will let them know.
Thank you for passing it on! It really not scary at all, and the food is wonderful. Hope you can make it next year for the 25th anniversary.
I love Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! It’s so much fun for kids and adults!
I agree, Shannon! I’m not sure who loves it more!
Great information! Do you know if Oogie Boogie popcorn buckets go on sale before 7pm or at 7pm? That’s the main reason I am going. Thanks!
Hi Maria! I’m not sure about the time. I did research a little but didn’t see any times set for the sale. One thing is for sure, they sell out pretty much right away. If I find out otherwise, I will let you know! Good luck!
We were very excited to attend the Halloween party and were very disappointed. The sold out crowd created long lines for everything, rides, trick or treat stations and food. The party was the reason we went and spent the money. Only do it if you enjoy other people dressed in costumes because you will be seeing plenty!
