The larger Yunnan district is definitely worth seeing for yourself as well. Get to know Yunnan's old towns and temples. Lovers of nature should also put aside some time to enjoy the region's rivers, mountains and canyons. Energetic travelers might try their hand at snowboarding, skiing and mountain climbing in the region.
The nearest accommodations in Dali include Xiaguan and Old Town Dali. Xiaguan is 30 miles (45 kilometers) to the north of Weishan, while Old Town Dali is 35 miles (57 kilometers) to the north. Accommodations in Xiaguan include the Grand Bay View International Hotel Dali and Dali Manwan Hotel. The Dali Landscape Hotel and Dali Tujia Vacation Rentals (Gantong Villa) are amongst the places to stay in Old Town Dali.

"The hotel was very clean and the gentleman working behind the front desk was very friendly and tried his very best to help with questions we had about traveling around Dali. The hotel is right in the middle of Dali Ancient City, so if that's what you want the location is excellent. It's a bit of a ride to the train station, but Didi's are very affordable. The hotel is very hard to find and the translation for the name of the hotel from English to Mandarin doesn't give the right name of the hotel. It took us awhile to find the hotel and even our DiDi driver from the airport didn't know the name of the hotel, somehow we found it. It's a small boutique hotel with clean rooms, comfortable bed, and breakfast made to order. Overall it was a good stay for the price."
