"Villa Del Caribe is a great family-friendly place to stay. Extremely secure (cameras and a guarded gate), beautifully kept facilities, great hotel rooms with comfy beds, mini split air conditioning, a refrigerator. Amazing friendly staff (most are fluent in English), a wonderful pool (my teenagers lived here, basically), complimentary breakfast served IN ROOM (on your private balcony!), great local restaurants (Spicy Coconut for adults, next door Argentine & Italian pizzeria El Rincón Porteño), but the best part was... THE WILDLIFE. WOW. The wildlife. We saw all of this while we were staying at the hotel –– 20+ howler monkeys next to the parking lot (some with babies). Leaf cutter ants. Multiple sloths (one with a baby). Iguanas. Green parrots. Agoutis! And almost no bugs! (I got three bug bites in total over three days, including one from a leaf cutter ant who didn't appreciate my closeup photography.) Even more wildlife but I won't put it down here. The Jaguar Rescue Center is also essentially across the street, so you can walk there from this hotel easily. We will always remember our amazing adventure at this hotel. Well worth the drive from San Jose to get here. We can't wait to come back one day!"
