604 New Haven Unsatisfactory

We were disappointed in the location because the advertisement said ocean front and it was not. The kitchen had very few kitchen utensils for cooking. There was a room called a bedroom that was very small without a closet and the ability to unpack suitcases. There was no shower on the first floor. We had a person who had health issues and the 3 flight of stairs were not mentioned in the description. We will not stay there again. Also,

Fabulous Photographer

Pros: on-site property manager was quick to respond anytime we need anything. The washer and dryer worked well. The convenience of the golf cart was great. Ocean Point Grill right across the street had a great breakfast and lunch. There was also a nice outdoor kitchen that the community makes great use of, grilling and hanging out. Cons- The pictures do not accurately represent the condition. Very minimal maintenance overall: with the exception of some newish vinyl flooring and granite tops in the kitchen, the entire unit doesn’t seem to have been touched with any meaningful maintenance in decades. We thought there was a dead animal in the kitchen but it was the plumbing under the kitchen sink. There was also a leak under the master sink that disintegrated a brand new cardboard box within 3 days of being placed under there. The entire unit was musty and humidity uncontrolled, which hovered at 80% inside (it is coastal South Carolina so some humidity is to be expected, but ac worked poorly so that outdoor humidity became the indoor humidity). Bath tiles held in place by caulk, one of the kitchen cabinet doors was a piece of unpainted plywood, peeling wallpaper and drywall, etc. Part of the draw of Fripp Island is that there is very little commercialization - which also means only a few choices for eating out -which also means most would likely prepare and eat meals in the unit but the provided plates, cups, silverware, cookware were extremely limited and what was there was dirty and needed to be washed before use. The furniture in the bedrooms seemed original as well, which wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that the smell is terrible in the drawers, so we didn’t want to use for clothes. ***From what we understand the unit just changed hands so, to be fair, maybe the new owners will be doing some maintenance and updates but we would absolutely not recommend staying there as-is.

Great Location

The property was very nice and spacious. Exactly as pictured. The views of the water from the balcony were great and less windy than the balconies directly on the water. The location was a very short walk to the water's edge where you would find chairs to sit and look at the water. A very dynamic location with respect to tides and an unusual place to walk during the low tide to investigate the sea creatures revealed. During low tide, you could walk to the white sandy beach. The golf cart provided by the unit allowed you an assigned charging and parking location and the ability to explore all of the 30+ beach access points and all other parts of the island. The pool was nice and within walking distance. Overall this was the perfect location for me!
