I was able to check in a couple hours before the stated check in time. I wish I had gone through the house to check things over before the rest of the group had arrived. When everyone got there and started settling in we found a urine stained comforter, boogers (yes, multiple) on the walls (yes, multiple walls), a brown liquid on the wall near a bed, lights that either didn’t work or had no clear way to turn them on, and locks that you would find on a public rest room door. No pool locks/alarms. We contacted modern beach vacation at 5 pm (1 hour after set check in). They responded swiftly and with action, we were told we’d have new comforters and a cleaner coming. By 6pm we had a woman and child bring new linens (no comforter) and no cleaning supplies. When we showed the child the stain on the wall she went to her car and got a dry cloth and wiped it, no disinfectant. We contacted the property management again. As the time went on we kept finding issues-cue the issue with the front door. I’m 95% sure the code doesn’t change as I had the same code days before check in, the door locks from the outside “automatically” and there’s not an additional deadbolt on the inside to lock it. There is however a lock at the top of the door frame that is used on public restrooms but even with that lock engaged you can still open the door and see the outside. At this point VRBO instructed us to vacate the property as this was a major safety and security concern. I have texts/photos as proof.
