Beautiful lake

The house was nice inside. There was not much in the way of explanation or instructions concerning the area and how to get around the Resort. Once we figured everything out, we did enjoy our stay.

Great for large families

Great home and in great condition. Room for a large family or multiple families. Everything we needed was available in the house. Management was friendly and responsive. This area of Lake Lure is pretty far away from things, so plan ahead if staying here or hit up the only grocery store (Ingles) when you arrive.

Cozy yet spacious find

This house was perfect for our long weekend getaway with 6 teens. It boasts 3 different sitting areas and the game room was a huge hit. Plenty of room at the large dining room table and island! We would stay here again. I so appreciated the clear communication with the property manager, as well.

Exactly as advertised

There were a total of three couples on our weekend getaway. The house was large enough for each couple to have their own space and the common areas were easily accommodated all of us. When we've stayed in the area in the past, the home's we've rented always had amazing mountain views. When we booked I thought this would be a drawback to this property, but I was wrong. Although we didn't have those classic views, the piece and tranquility of being surrounded by nature was an experience all in itself. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful place with plenty of room

This place was very well appointed with comfortable beds and more than enough room to accommodate 6 teenagers who loved the ping pong table and the pool table. Location was convenient to the lake. We had a problem with the grill one night and it was replaced the very next day. Great communication regarding check-in, check out, and any hiccups along the way. Loved the facilities at the resort and used all of them. Didn’t feel overcrowded and we went during a busy week of July. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. The only things to be aware of: 1) very steep driveway—manageable but may be difficult for some vehicles 2) You are not really close to a grocery store or restaurants (though there is a convenience store close by for things you’ve forgotten) but you’ll want to hit the grocery store 20 minutes away before you get to the house. 3) We were disappointed in the supplies of the kitchen. Clearly it was well-stocked at some point, and there were lots of plates and cups, but the other supplies appear picked through and some crucial things were missing: a baking pan, a sharp knife, grilling utensils, etc. We made it work, but will likely need to be refreshed soon. 4) When you’re reading about bears as part of the paperwork when you first enter—This is for real. Do not put any garbage outside in the garbage can. We had a bear right up under the porch the first night (our own fault), but clearly he’s been there before. Overall a great trip!

Lake Lure getaway!

The trip was great! We enjoyed the house, especially the basement area. I have only two small complaints. First, one bedroom has only a twin with a crib, not great when everyone in your party is a couple. Also, Rumbling Bald is a nice area but there are no towels provided at the beach area. It would be great to have beach towels at the house, in light of that.

Multi family stay

The house was just as described. Lots of space for various ages. Close to resort activities. The only thing we were sad about was that we couldn’t get the grill to work. But the kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed!

Resort was over rated

The house was nice. Had plenty of everything. We were even surprised to find kid toys, plates and utensils. The resort was underwhelming! Not worth it at all. Amenities were way too small for the number of people. It was crazy on July 3rd/4th. They must have sold day tickets to the community. Everyone was on top of everyone at the lake. You couldn’t even walk into the water. The pool was at capacity and wouldn’t let anyone in. There was a fee for everything else. Even a drink on the beach cost $11. We rented the house due to the amenities and I would not rate them very high at all. If you are planning a family vacation then find a more family friendly resort.

Spring Break Getaway

Chose this house for the game room and access to Bald Mountain resort amenities. No map at house showing you where to go to access the amenities, it’s a large winding subdivision so some direction would have been nice. The game room was disappointing. The foosball table was not in great working order. The ping pong table had to have the net put in place and wasn’t very flat. The pool table was ok, but has definitely seen better days. The kitchen was scarce being nice. We really wanted to save money by eating our meals at the house. The cookware was extremely limited and in poor condition. I’ve been to many rentals and I’ve never been to a house where there is no salt, pepper or sugar! The cookware was dusty as well. The house itself was clean and as advertised, the details I’ve come to expect when renting a house were just not there.

Peaceful

Our stay was so peaceful. The kids all were occupied while the adults talked. The place was perfect. It was our getaway from reality as well as a chance to spend time with family. Great for family vacations!! The only request i do have is providing more laundry bags in case big families like mine (11 people) stay because all of the bedding didnt fit in the basket, hamper, and 2 laundry bags provided. Other than that it was great.

Winter getaway

Great location! A large house with multiple levels and living spaces that was perfect for our party of 7. The large kitchen was perfect as we cooked as a family and there was no bumping into each other. We also appreciated that the dining table was large enough for all of us to sit together. I only wish it had been just a little warmer out so we could have enjoyed the large back deck.

Enjoyable stay at Modern Mountain Retreat

A very nice house in a nice estate close to the Rumbling Bald Resort where we had access to the lake, pool, miniature golf, etc. The property managers were quick to address any needs we had.

Not What Was Expected

Property photos were obviously made years ago with a wide angle lens. Furniture was covered with pet protectors although it is a pet friendly home. Candy wrapper was visible under coffee table, everything very dusty and windows were dirty. The smoke detector in one bedroom was hanging without batteries. Rental company was pleasant to work with but would not consider renting this unit again. Resort area is nice. Next time we'll pick a different unit.

Great for Families

This property was exactly as pictured. Lots of space for our families to spread apart in the house. Game room was ideal to keep everyone busy on rainy afternoons. Rumbling Bald is only a few miles drive from the house.

Great house for families!

Game room was key when it rained, big outdoor deck, fire pit was perfect for marshmallow roasting, plenty of space to spread out, laundry room came in handy as well. Close to Rumbling Bald pool and Lake Lure! Wonderful time!
