Across from the Gilman Tunnels in the Guadalupe Box rests Guadalupita Mesa at an elevation of 7,464 ft/2,275 m. The volcanic red mountains are something not to miss.
Gilman Tunnels were part of the Santa Fe Northwestern Railway that was used to haul lumber from Jemez mountains. The railway was used from 1924-1941. The tunnels were also used for the 2007 film 3:10 To Yuma.
