Cute old house needs better management
This house does not have air conditioning or heat. The listing is not accurate. We learned this on our way and the management company’s solution was a box fan. Nearly impossible to temperature control. Our family of 4 ended up sleeping in 1 room with two twin beds. Not ideal or comfortable. If you have allergies, forget it. The glass in the windows appears original, but it has holes and breaks in them. Which means insects. We even found bugs in the bed! The second bathroom is in the basement in the laundry room. Nothing else is in the basement. The house also smells awful because the floor is rotting out and mold/mildew ridden from leaks in the bathroom. The three “bedrooms” upstairs are open tops and have no doors. The stair rail is unsafe for children as it is very short and the spindles are 2 feet apart. So not ideal for children unless older or an infant that cannot roll yet.
The positives are the screened in porch where you can watch the boats. We spent almost all the time on the porch to avoid the heat and stench inside the house. The history of the house and family are somewhat on display which makes it very interesting. I can see so many memories for them happened in the house. I hope they find a better management company before this one destroys the home with their apathy for its history.
