The Little Blue Moose Hideaway - Pet Friendly Secluded Cabin -10 min to RMNP

Tucked away in the heart of Grand Lake, The Little Blue Moose Hideaway, is a cozy, newly renovated cabin that offers the perfect mix of family-friendly charm and romantic touches for couples. Located just 5 minutes from the west entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park and a short walk from the lake and downtown shops, it's the ideal base for your mountain adventures.
Thoughtfully updated by its new owners, the cabin has been designed to be a warm, inviting space for guests of all ages, whether you're here for outdoor adventures, family memories, or a peaceful couples' retreat.

The Property:
Enter into a cheerful living and eating space with the best napping couch ever, big screen TV and dining table for 4-6. Smokey's Den with charming cabin bunk beds are behind the "secret door" off the living room, or continue straight to enter the beautiful modern kitchen with an antique cooking stove to remind you - you've stepped into a 1943 mountain cabin! The bathroom is centrally located in the cabin with a clawfoot soaking tub to really let you leave your cares at home. Continue past the kitchen to the luxurious main bedroom featuring a king bed and two big windows to watch for wildlife and enjoy the cross breezes as you sleep. Go outside onto the large back deck to enjoy your coffee, or continue onto the newly finished clubhouse, just steps between our prehistoric boulders that are so "Colorado".

The Little Blue Moose Hideaway is your dreamy cabin home under tall aspen just steps from ice cream, professional theatre, and beautiful Grand Lake and it's a short five minute drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. Two blocks is all that separates you from festivals and Bingo in the park, shopping and restaurants. But when relaxing on one of the two decks, or gathered around the fire pit among the giant boulders, you'll feel you are in a secluded forest of aspen - just you and yours and the chipmunks!

But wait til you step inside! You're still surrounded by nature. Enjoy the original art throughout the cabin reminding you of the moose and bears and yellow bellied marmots that call this area home. As you enjoy a warm fire in the wood stove after cooking a meal in the modern kitchen, you'll feel at peace with the Rocky Mountains and you'll wonder if you just heard a bear or a moose pass through the yard. Before tucking into your comfy king size bed, have a soak in the beautiful blue clawfoot tub to set you off to dreamland properly.

Oh but the kids haven't been tucked in yet! And what IS that secret door off the living room? Let the kids open it to discover Smokey Bear's Grand Lake Den. Even kids at heart will love discovering the log cabin bunk bed nestled snugly in a space fit for an American hero and his guests. You and yours will enjoy immersing yourself in Smokey's world - a mini museum featuring photographs of Smokey's life and times. Read his mail, see his baby pictures, it's a joyful space. Smokey himself and a camping lantern wait on each quilt-adorned twin bed ready for bedtime stories and mountain dreams. Before bed little guests can dig into a woodland-themed suitcase stocked with toys, or put on their own puppet show with woodland animal puppets through one of the bunkbed "windows." It's a magical space created for peaceful hibernation. NOTE: These beds are standard twin but to enjoy climbing in and out you should be medium-bear sized. It's a tight squeeze for big adults!

The Clubhouse:
Step into the Mickey Moose Clubhouse, a cozy retreat just a few steps up from the main cabin. This playful space features a glowing neon moose sign to welcome you, along with games, puzzles, and books for every age and interest. Whether you're unwinding with a good book, challenging friends to a game night, or puzzling away on a rainy afternoon, this is the perfect spot to relax and reconnect.
Sink into the queen-size futon or giant bean bag while enjoying your favorite shows on the big screen TV with Roku—just log into your preferred channels and kick back. For those who like to mix creativity or work with mountain air, a folding table offers a comfy writing nook where mountain breezes drift through the two windows, accompanied by the cheerful chirps of chipmunks outside. You never know, a moose or bear could look in on you too to make sure you're staying on task! And for those who crave a morning workout - enjoy our yoga mat and hand weights.
The Clubhouse is fully equipped for chilly weather: curl up under cozy blankets with the dedicated heater keeping things toasty. It's a small but well-designed space, making it the ideal getaway for a couple, solo traveler, or small group of friends who love comfort with a touch of whimsy.
**What about SNOW? We can't promise it will be available after a heavy snow - there are a few steps and a narrow pathway around one of our dino-sized boulders. But there will be snow shovels at the ready if you want a real mountain experience of digging the path. And the determined shall be rewarded! For those who like to mix creativity or work with mountain air, a folding table offers a comfy writing nook where mountain breezes drift through the two windows, accompanied by the cheerful chirps of chipmunks outside. You never know, a moose or bear could look in on you too to make sure you're staying on task! Sink into the queen-size futon or giant bean bag while enjoying your favorite shows on the big screen TV with Roku—just log into your preferred channels and kick back.

The space:
Charming blue exterior with classic mountain-town details (white porch, yellow door, skis)
Shelves stocked with family games, books and nature-themed puzzles
Bright, nature-inspired decor with moose and Rocky Mountain touches throughout
Front porch seating, Back porch seating, Firepit (NEWLY moved to be more enjoyable!)

Sleeping Arrangements:
Primary Bedroom - romantic and soothing decor with a new king bed and room darkening blinds. Two windows for a lovely cross breeze. Personal closet for easy storage of clothing and shoes.
Smokey's Den - a twin size bunk bed in a bear's den size room - perfect for kids or small adults who don't mind being cozy!
Living room - a comfortable queen size sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress
Clubhouse - a comfortable futon and bedding is provided, however plumbing is not! You'll have a lantern and automatic lighting to guide you into the house after dark. It's glamping at its finest - complete with a neon moose!

The cabin is now our favorite place to be and stay in Grand Lake, we loved every bit of it. The care that was taken to make the smokey room was amazing. The hideaway cabin was so cozy and relaxing as was the back patio/fire pit area. We cannot wait to use it again in the future!

This is such an amazing cabin to stay in while visiting Grand Lake! The new owner has made it sooo comfortable and has spared no expense on making sure the guests are very well taken care of. The cabin is furnished with everything you need and decorated just as you would want in a cabin. Often times some rentals are furnished with cheap furniture, beds and appliances- not the Little Blue Moose!!! The location is also absolutely perfect. One block from all the downtown action while still giving you the feel of being tucked away in the woods. Jennifer the owner checked in on us several times to ensure everything was perfect and that’s the word “perfect”Highly recommend!!

Memorial Day Weekend

This was my first ever VRBO rental. My girlfriend and I stayed 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The cabin is in a perfect location. We were within walking distance of the main street in town but it still felt very secluded. (PS: try the ice cream shop) I was shocked by the amenities these hosts provided. It shows how much they care and it was much appreciated. The fire pit in the backyard and the grill was a huge plus! It was such a cute and cozy cabin. Everything was well maintained and clean. 10/10 would recommend and I hope to return in the near future.

Cute Cozy Mountain Cottage

My wife and I spent a four day weekend in September for our anniversary. It was wonderful. We loved the interior decorating (country cottage more than mountain cabin perhaps and tastefully done). The location is perfect. We could walk to shops and restaurants in town within minutes but the property still has a remote woodsy feel to it. The photos don't show it but there's a neighboring cabin about 20 feet away (to the right of the front porch with the flags on it). It wasn't a problem for us because it was unoccupied most of the time we were there. People arrived as we were leaving but they were very nice. (Know that in the town of Grand Lake homes are typically located close to each other but you won't be bothered much by it.) Photos show a wood stove but it was inoperable while we were there. We would have used it but didn't choose this property based on that so we didn't mind. There were many more appliances and supplies than expected (ziplock bags, paper plates, napkins, blender, etc.) which was nice. Kudos to the owner/caretaker for their consideration! There's a fire pit in the back yard that we enjoyed using one night and plenty of firewood, although we wished we could have temporarily disabled the motion controlled security flood light that came on whenever we moved about. It wasn't a big deal though. Overall we give this a top score and would likely use it again.

Getting away from Texas heat & see changing of leaves!

Saw our friends recent trip to Grand Lake, Co and knew we had to go!!! Wanted to stay close to town so we could walk and shop! We took three trips into RMNP Andhiked trails there and went back at dawn to see some elk and moose! Super close drive to RMNP! The home itself has every item you could possibly need! Bed was comfortable! Played yatzee on patio! Make sure you wear appropriate shoes as you are on a gravel dirt road. Shower is not for larger adults (my husband is 6’2 205 ) and was ok! If I had to complain I would say there was not a tv in bed room. We just opened the sofa bed in living room and slept in living room! 😀I would hands down recommend this property!!! Fantastic!!!! We love the antiques and nostalgia of the old home!! ❤️

Great place for small family! Amazing location!

My husband, 2 year old, and I live elsewhere in Colorado and wanted a quick weekend getaway for Grand Lake. This was the perfect place for us! The location is great, just a couple of blocks off Main Street. Didn’t need the car the whole weekend. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. The fire pit in the back is on a little incline but was great to sit around and there was a lot of firewood to use. The “2nd bedroom” is very small but worked well for us. Just big enough for the twin bed in the room and to fit a pack and play between the twin bed and the wall. The bed was very comfortable. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again!

Cute, clean, and close to town

We loved the location of this house on the edge of Grand Lake- it was easy to drive in and out of town, and even easier to walk down the hill to the main street and just a couple more blocks to the lake. As others have mentioned, the 2nd bedroom is tiny, so we put the kids' clothes, books, and toys in there, and they slept together on the pull-out couch. It worked great for us. We'd definitely stay here again.
