Hoh Chalet A cozy cabin on the Olympic Peninsula

The Hoh Chalet is a cozy cabin located on the Olympic Peninsula in the Hoh River Basin. It is heated with a woodstove and has spiral stairs to get up to both bedrooms. Pictures of stairs are in additional photos in this listing.

The space
The Chalet is a small cabin, just 400 sq ft per floor. It is an independant home and is powered by solar energy. The inside is DIY finished with repurposed materials. Only the appliances are new.
This two-story cabin has 2 bedrooms upstairs with a double bed in each, no doors, and a desk in the hall. The entry level has a kitchenette, bathroom, dining area and common area with a hide-a-bed in the sitting room. It is heated with a woodstove; firewood, cable TV, and Wi-Fi are provided.

Guest access
There is plenty of parking, with a carport for smaller vehicles. You are welcome to walk down the road, and tour our property. We have a berry farm and U-Pick berries starting in late June as well as a grocery garden, and a path through our wooded area. A large communal fire pit is located behind our retail shack where Hoh Made Jam, Native Hoh River Smoked Salmon, and local arts and crafts are available.
Other things to note
Access to the upper floor is via a spiral staircase. If you have small children or do not do stairs easily, this may not be for you.
Pets are allowed, but they may not be left unattended.

Great location and unique property

Diane was so welcoming and hospitable. Kids loved looking around the property and seeing all of the ways that she has put sustainable, unique touches. We bought a carton of chanterelle mushrooms in the jam shack that were the highlight of our home cooked meal. Thank you Diane!

The cabin is in a good location to visit the west side of ONP. Forks had all the supplies we needed. The cabin is truly one of a kind and Diana has created it all. We admired her passion for her cabin and all the hard work she has put into it. She was very welcoming to us and invited us to explore her property and pick our own berries! She was a great host. The cabin was more homestead style rather than modern. Her description is correct.

Best of Hoh

Excellent location and accommodations. Very unique design and off grid feel while still close to Ruby Beach and Hall of Mosses. The wood countertops, spiral staircase and one of a kind fire pit patio were highlights for us. The mosaic floors and luxurious bathroom were pleasant surprises and cherished memories. The kitchen was complete and we made a scrumptious breakfast before tidepool discoveries at the beach only minutes away.

Nice little place

This was a nice small place for our family of 4 with teenagers. Spiral stairs are a bit tight for big feet but we made it work. Beds were comfortable. Great spot for those early morning low tides at Ruby Beach.

This rustic property is completely off the grid. Solar panels provide power for D/C lights that are a bit dim. The only source of heat is a wood burning stove and wood is provided. The steep circular staircase could be bit of a challenge to those with mobility issues, especially at night to access the bathroom. Diane is a lovely host and an excellent communicator. The home is very clean and the location is convenient to the Rain Forest entrance. This is NOT a negative review. We very much enjoyed our stay. It is simply a heads up to future renters.

Rustic chalet with wonderful gardens. Near Hoh Rainforest and Ruby Beach. You do have to be able to do steep steps to get to the 2 upstairs bedroom. The bathroom is downstairs. I would stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hoh chalet. Close to rainforest and beaches. I loved all of the creativity that has been poured into the space. The kitchen has all you need to make meals, tiny TV if you want a show, board games, flowers, and the amazing wood stove! The garden outside is lovely as well. Perfect place for a quiet getaway. Hope to visit again one day.

Beautiful and peaceful!

What a stunning space! We loved and admired the DIY aspects of it all. The fire stove was so warm and cozy and the owners checked on us to make sure we were able to use it. We bought lots of yummy fresh made jam from the shack right across the way. Lots of activities left for us to do within the cabin and outside of it. Overall magical!!!

Well made and very comfortable artsy cabin

Diane's cabin is amazing, so much artistic love went into its construction. She did beautiful tiling in the bathroom and around the woodstove, built a fantastic spiral stair (narrow, but very well banistered, so quite manageable even for these grandparents), and has a lovely little garden. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds comfortable and everything a pleasure to look at. We would definitely come again. The woodstove was well supplied, effiecient, and easy to use.

This was a home away from home, the wood heat was the best!!! I loved the live edge counters and cozy feel of the place, and we loved the raw honey and jams that were accessible to us as well, we will definitely be returning this fall for berry picking
