The motel was very dated, but accommodations were adequate. The room was large and was clean. Bicknell is about 8 miles further from Capitol Reef than Torey and Torey has many more options for dining.

The area around this motel had virtually no basic services. By not even 9 p.m., there was nowhere left to buy food—every shop was already closed. The only pizza place the owner told us should still be open had also closed by the time we arrived, just minutes after checking in. The next morning, the only option for something to eat was a gas station; otherwise, we would have had to drive all the way to Torrey. Despite charging the highest rate of our entire trip, this motel offered almost no convenience. We couldn’t even meet the most basic need of having a meal.

The door did not close properly, you had to pull on the door while locking it so the deadbolt would lock. The room was very outdated and had a very strong cigarette smell.
