I stayed in this hotel for an interview in Philadelphia. At 0130 the night before my interview, I awoke to a high pitched, shrill, constant noise. This noise persisted for about 20-30 minutes. I called the front desk and they sent someone up to evaluate, by which point the noise had stopped. They suggested it was due to "electrical wiring" and did not have a solution for this overnight. My only options were to move room or to hope it didn't come back. I opted for the latter, but the noise came back around 0200 and wouldn't stop. Ultimately I had to completely move room at about 0230 the night before an interview, and no one even offered to help me carry my belongings through the hallway at nearly 3am. I got about 2 hours of sleep before my interview. The compensation I was offered was to waive the "amenity fee" (which is a scam to begin with) but I accepted. On checkout, they still tried to charge me the amenity fee, saying that because I had "used the benefits" by going to the restaurant, I should essentially still have to pay, though ultimately I was able to get them to comp the amenity fee. Overall, I understand some things are beyond hotels' control but the customer service was completely devoid of any regard for what I had to deal with, and I felt nickeled-and-dimed by what claims to be a 4 star hotel. Disappointing and would recommend to stay elsewhere

I was "upgraded" to a very tired room. It was clean enough, but a bit cut-up in layout so felt cramped. The wire on the hairdryer was frayed. The TP holder was not anchored in wall. Paint drops on wallpaper, bureau had significant chips. Restaurant was good and folks tending bar were friendly. Still, not the best Kimpton experience, for sure. Husband left watch in room and despite leaving two messages at lost and found and then being sent to a website to file a report, I still haven't heard anything ... just called again this a.m. and was promised a call back (not sure why one report on the day we returned home didn't merit a call back but there you go.

Although I would have appreciated more diverse breakfast options beyond the standard American breakfast, it was still enjoyable. However, I found myself getting bored after three consecutive days of the same menu. The ability to text the staff was awesome. They were quick to response and accommodated my needs and or requests right away. I would consider staying here again in the future!

I wasn’t going to leave a review but since you insist, I really was not thrilled with having to wait two hours to check in. The check in time was 3pm, and upon arrival my girlfriend and I were informed that the room was not ready. We were told that there was no estimate on when the room would be ready, but that I would receive a text notifying me when the room was ready. I received no such text. Shortly after 5pm I asked the front desk worker where I could use the restroom, and was only then told that the room was in fact ready. Based on the reviews I read, this is a pretty common experience lately. However I did receive a text making sure I was leaving on time!

Kimpton Palomar Philly is really about location and the people — and the people are great. The staff were genuinely lovely, especially the room service attendant on 12/31. We had a quiet king room (no city view). No fireworks noise, though you do hear street noise. The room was on the larger side of small, but everything felt dated: furnishings, curtains, headboard, phone, fixtures, linens, towels — all very ’90s, including the tub/shower combo. The carpet was dingy and it definitely needs a refresh (ask for slippers). Room service came in a bag instead of on a tray, which made eating for two a little awkward. We had our two small dogs with us, and while the hotel itself is very dog-friendly (which we appreciate — it’s why we usually choose Kimptons), the immediate area really isn’t. It’s busy, loud, and there’s no grass nearby. Rittenhouse Square is a short walk away, but when it’s 12° outside, that’s not exactly a practical solution. Food was average, the postcard station is super cute, and overall it feels like a solid 3-star hotel where you’re paying for the location and the staff more than the room itself.
