Things to Know Tahoe is home to many animals. You may experience bears, raccoons, mice, and other animals. Meadows are home to many rodents. When these areas are filled with water or snow, these animals move to homes in the area. You may see these animals in or near your home. With the remote location of this property, there is no internet or cable. There is a cell phone booster in the cabin so that people can still get service, but it is spotty. This is a property for people who want to disconnect from the outside world. Be sure to print out your home guide before arriving.
If you are bringing a dog on your trip, the pet fee is already included in your quote when selecting ‘Yes’ to pets. If you would like to add more dogs, please contact us. The pet fee is per stay and ranges between $150 and $200, depending on the bedroom count, and will apply for each additional dog.
Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.
Dock details: This home is part of an HOA, giving it access to a dock that can be used to hang out on, but not for boats. Guests can walk downhill on the left of the cabin to Fallen Leaf Road, turn left, or south, and go about 100 yards. Lakeview is on the right side of the road, there are stairs and a green hand rail that go down to the L-shaped dock. There is also a long row of lockers.
Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit. More information can be downloaded from the "Rental Agreement" on the checkout page.

Fallen Leaf Lake Cabin
For two people who wanted a base from which to go on day hikes and at which they could disconnect from work and the interweb, it was great. It's small (ideal for 2, not so good for a bigger group unless you want a lot of togetherness), but we had everything we needed other than a coffee maker (we took our own, so no problem). If you want to cook on the grill, take a meat thermometer for anything beyond burgers. There's a great trailhead nearby, and the store has basics. South Lake Tahoe is an easy drive for anything else.

Dock under construction (no private lake access)
We booked this cabin specifically for its easy and private lake access. The listing features 5 pictures of the nearby dock and explicitly mentions how close it is to the cabin. However, when we walked down to the lake, the steps down to the dock were fenced off and the dock was under construction. This was a significant construction project, and, as part of an HOA, the owner was certainly aware of it. So why weren't we? Why hadn't the listing been updated? If this listing had the correct information we could have selected several other properties.
We tried to reach Vacasa, the property management company, several times with no luck, waiting on hold for more than 20 minutes. If you want to be walking distance to the lake, we don’t recommend staying here anytime soon. We’ve stayed in Tahoe for more than 20 years, dealing directly with owners (pretty sure VRBO used to stand for Vacation Rentals By Owner) and we’ve always had easy, pleasant experiences.
The cabin itself was fine for two people. There was plenty of dust and some questionably clean linens (stains, hair). The dishes were notably dirty. We could have dealt with all this but without the nearby lake access we came for, we left early.

Sadly not happy.
This is my first negative experience with a home and I have been doing this for 10 years. Im not going to go into all the details but the one thing we were majorly disappointed in was the false advertising that we were not necessarily closer to the water than we thought but that we would have a dock to hang out on. Thats why I rented this place, thinking we would get to hang out, play in the water etc. There was no docks for the home. If there were I wouldn't know because we emailed the company and they never responded. In the pictures it makes you feel like its a part of the house, and its not. So be aware.

Charming cottage with filtered lake views
Cherry Leaf Lodge delivered on our desire to find a charming cabin on a lake. The best part was sitting on the deck, reading a book, and watching the sun go down through the trees and over the lake. We appreciated the attention to detail to create a simple, cabin experience from another era, all the way down to the record player, but with key creature comforts of today. Our kids had a delightful time playing games in the living room. We planned ahead, as directed, and lived just fine without WiFi. Thank you!

Adorable Cozy Cabin
This is a perfect little cabin tucked away in the woods with a view of the lake from the living room and deck. There are a couple neighboring cabins close by, but overall great location to be off the beaten path. We could watch the sun set over the mountain every night with a beautiful view of the water. The inside is updated and clean. Our family enjoyed the DVD selection of romantic comedies, and a few kids movies, there is also a record player. We also had access to a private dock. I would suggest using google earth to find it though based on the pictures, property management had no specific directions on where it was located but we did manage to find it. There is no wifi or cell service. So this is a great place to unplug as a family! There is so much to do and explore in the area. We will definitely be back!
