Very quiet. Nice to be in a small town. Close to ocean. We had our motorcycle with us and area was perfect for riding. Not used to town closing at 9p coming from a 24 hour city. Loved the atmosphere. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

B&B wannabee

Pros: Quaint
Cons: Either make the transition to a full B&B or become a real hotel. This in-between idea does not work for the amount charged for a single overnight.
Location: The entire area is over-priced and over-pretentious. They do not have the services in-place to be a full tourist trap but they overcharge like it.
The Valley Ford Hotel has no on-site management. It has no "modern" amenities:: no TV, no phone, running water from a non-potable well, breakfast was setup after 8:00 AM on a little hutch upstairs... The Queen-size bed that we paid for turned out to be a Full-sized bed. The downstairs nightspot for the town was noisy until late. We did not see any hotel staff at all.

Nice laid back hotel on Highway 1

Pros: Funky and cool with out being messy or pretentious.
Location: Perfect location for exploring the rugged Sonoma County coastline.
We both enjoyed our accommodations. Everything was clean and neat. The hotel is as advertised, no frills but comfortable and cozy. We had dinner in the restaurant, "Rocker Oysterfellers". The raw oysters were fresh, tasted like a burst of succulent sea water. Fried chicken met all of my requirements for Sunday supper comfort food. The bar was filled with locals and a delightful woman made and served drinks along with cheerful banter - great fun. We live in San Francisco and seldom cross the Golden Gate Bridge so when we do we usually stay in Sonoma or Mendocino Counties over night. We will return to the Valley Ford Hotel.
