Wished it was a longer stay

Pros: Free Internet, Quiet, short walk to pier, awsome choclate cookies
Cons: Poor breakfast, low water pressure
After being maried for 15 years, we recently realized that we are drifting apart with daily stress and kids. So we thought we should go away for a day or two. After reading several reviews, we were skeptical but decided to take a chance and chose Eagle inn. We were happy we did that. It was a great to be together and Eagle inn was marvelous little gem in Santa Barbara. I am not saying it is perfect but pretty close. Here are the issues I had: (1) When we checked in on a Tuesday afternoon, the receptionist was on the phone agruing with a cutomer about his/here reservation or rather lack of it (2) We booked a king size room with a whirlpool using Trevelocity but we were given a queen size room. However, when I told the receptionist, she changed us immediately to an appropriate room. So that was not a big deal (3) Lousy breakfast. For $170 a pop, I expect a better breakfast. (4) Very low water pressure. No Excuse for the last 2 problems. Having said that, our room was very pleasant (#216). With a fireplace, air conditioner, Whirlpool. The staff are very nice and helpful. Yeah there are no Ice machines but this is not a motel, so who cares. It was a just block from the ocean and we had a great time. Will definetly go back

Would stay again!

We were from the area and wanted to stay in SB for our anniversary. The room was clean and comfortable. Nice and private, with a parking space just under our room. The only thing that we found that we didn't like, was the dishes by the microwave were dirty! The bed was comfortable. Didn't stay have the breakfast, but the coffee could have been better. We would go back, and would recommend it to our friends.

Good Choice, You'll Like It.

The Eage Inn is a wonderful find for us because we visit Santa Barbara several times a year to see our son who is attending Santa Barbara university. Every room we've had at the inn over the past 2 years, and there have been several, has been clean, with comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and nice furnishings. If you can get one of their cottage rooms they are really exceptional, I don't think you will get one anywhere in Santa Barbara that's as nice for the price that they charge. The staff are all very friendly and very helpful with ideas for places to see and restaurants to visit. Their breakfast is good, with cereals, bagels, fresh fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee and orange juice. Help yourself to what you want is the breakfast service. Location is excellent on a quiet street only two minute walk to the beach/harbor.

""Home"" Away from Home

I am a frequent business traveler to Santa Barbara. Once I found this hotel I stopped looking for any other places to stay. The rooms have been recently remodelled and they have added independent studios behind the main building. The rooms are always clean, many of the rooms have gas fireplaces and jaccuzis. Not bathtub jaccuzis, seperate, large jaccuzis in the main room. They have a light healthy breakfast available as part of the rate with fresh fruit, cereal, bagels and pastries which is a great way to start the day. Though it is not in the middle of downtown, it is two blocks from the beach and the main pier, a short walk downtown and close to the highway it's easy to get to and close to other activities. If you prefer a small more intimate hotel this is the place as I don't mind if I can't get someone at the desk after 10:30. By the time I've had a couple of their fresh chocolate chip cookies at 5:00 all I need is a good meal and a nice room.

Ignorance Is Not Bliss

Two things you should know: no air conditioning and no elevators. If we had known, we wouldn't have stayed there. After we lugged all our gear up the stairs to the room (we're senior citizens with some health problems), we found that the thermostat on the wall said it was 78 degrees in the room, too hot for sleeping. I looked at the thermostat trying to figure out how to turn on the A/C. It didn't have a setting for A/C, so I called the front desk. They confirmed what I had by then suspected -- no A/C. (The other poster who said the A/C is loud is wrong, there is none. Perhaps they meant the heat.) They offered to bring up a fan and we accepted. We had only made one request when we called to make our reservation -- a quiet room. The problem we had with the fan is that when we opened the door to the balcony for the fan to exhaust the room air, the car noise from the street outside our room kept us awake. And it was too hot to sleep with that door closed. As another poster mentioned, there is no one at the desk after 10:30, so if you arrive (or come back to the hotel) after that time, you have to make arrangements to get in.

Would highly recommend the Eagle Inn!

My husband were looking for a quiet bed and breakfast style hotel and we found it! The Eagle Inn was wonderful. Our room had a large whirlpool tub, a fireplace, an a dual head shower. It was perfect for our weekend getaway. When we arrived to our room, we found a path of rose petals in the room leading to the whirlpool tub along with a vase with red roses. There was a little basket of water, chips, chocolates, and fruit as well (free of charge!) The room was also incredibly clean and very nicely decorated. The hotel was was in very close proximity to State St (where many of the town's restaurants, bars, and shops are located) as well as the wharf and the train station. We arrived via train and did not need to rent a car or hire a taxi at all. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and if we ever return to Santa Barbara, would probably stay there again. I would suggest, however, that if you decide to indulge in a spa treatment with the spa the hotel works with, that you make the appointment yourself. We inadvertently found out that if you have the hotel book your spa treatment, they add a $10-$20 surcharge.

looking froward to going back

What a find! It is a lovely secluded place a couple blocks from the busy beach area. It has a very small, quiet, european feel with lots of little extras.
