Let me start off by saying.. I LOVE staying here, The staff from the valet, kitchen service, front desk, bell hop, to the ground keeper are extremely friendly and helpful… A+ in my book! Every time I’m in New Orleans I always book a room here at Sonesta on St Joseph St. Unfortunately, this time was a little different. As the bell hop assisted me (on crutches) to my room I saw trash in the hallway, and stains on the hallway floor. For this trip we stayed on the 1st floor room 181. In room 181 the floor (carpet) had several large dark stains in the living room and in the bedroom by the window, there was trash from the previous occupant still on the floor, the tub was not cleaned still had a dirt ring around and I soon found out why.. due to the water did not drain properly out, the water in the shower no matter if I placed on completely hot, it didn’t get hot.. so I took several cold showers.. because a girl has to bathe no matter what. I did everything I could to protect myself like cleaning the tub, and placed bath towels on tub floor and on the bathroom floor, and wearing my shower shoes. My expectations for Sonesta are high so they let me down this go around and I’m undecided if I’m going to stay there for my next trip in February during Mardi Gras season 2026. Come On Sonesta please bring your hotel back up to par.. I really do Love yal! ❤️🙃❤️🙂

The apt (2 room/2bath) was huge, multiple rooms and bathrooms and kitchen. The location was awesome and allowed walking distance to so many things like casinos or French Quarter. Parking lots and street parking all around if you have local family or friends coming. Free breakfast is always a plus when traveling and theirs was good. The staff are very friendly, every single one we encountered were nice. The negatives is the carpet. The carpet is beyond repair at least in our stay, there was not another 2 bedroom available. My suggestion is to redo the floors that would improve so much. Next the mattress of the pull out couch was full of urine we had to call and they replaced it and cleaned the surrounding area fast. That should have been done long ago though. We still did not use it but appreciate the effort it made a huge difference. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Valet was perfect and a great service. Our trip as a family was great, and this location has so much potential to be even greater. I think for the price we paid we had a good deal, and a great time.

There was a $53 a night valet charge and they charged your card $250 as a reserve charge so the price is misleading. The breakfast was phenomenal. Bring your own pillows—theirs were flat.

This hotel is incredible the staff was friendly and accommodating from the moment I checked in until the moment I checked out. I felt safe at night with security always visible and an attentive staff. The breakfast had a wide variety of hot and cold dishes readily available at the start of the day. I stayed in the 2 suite bedroom with a full kitchen that was clean and well maintained. I will be staying here for all future visits.

Rooms were poorly insulated from outside noise, carpets were old and maybe a bit dirty, and the thermostat didn’t work well - rooms were consistently too hot or too cold. In addition, the food was gross. On the plus side, the room was large enough for a family.

Here are my thoughts based on my 3 night experience in December 2025. This seems like it used to be a nice hotel but is now a little rundown. Con’s: - Not the cleanest space - My room had multiple issues upon arrival - toilet blocked, main light not working, shelf hanging off in the bathroom, only 1 towel, not enough bedding for pull out couch. - Breakfast - although free, it was pretty crappy. Day 1 they didn’t have any forks. Also most items were not being offered that day (no pancakes, muffins, yogurt, only 1 out of 3 juice available). Also this is a plastic spoon and paper plate kinda breakfast. My two teens were fed up with breakfast by day three (and they are not picky eaters at all). We ended up skipping it and buying breakfast outside. - Upon arrival, like most hotels you need to have a credit card on file. However, they charge you $250 immediately. And then said they will reimburse you 3-5 days after your stay. I’m still waiting. - You must notify the front desk if you want your room serviced. They will not do this unless you specifically ask. Pros: - Nice quiet area - About a 20 minute walk from the French quarter or a $9.00 uber ride. - Able to store your luggage in a locked place when you check out. - Free popcorn once a day in the lobby. Based on my experience, I would not stay at this place again.
