We have traveled all over the world and stayed in a great many hotels.. This is definitely one of our favorites (and it has nothing to do with the fact that my maiden name is Nelligan - no relation). We will definitely go back.

Gorgeous Hotel in Old Port Montreal

Pros: I thought the hotel rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful as well as knowledgeable of the area.
Location: The hotel is located on rue Saint-Paul which is one block away from the harbor as well as close to many shops and restaurants.
The Hotel Nelligan is a gorgeous hotel with great character. The staff was always nice and very helpful. The receptionist were able to give great recommendations for restaurants. There was also a very nice restaurant on the Hotels Terrace, Terrace Nelligan, which had great views of the city and the St. Lawerance Seaway. The hotel rooms were very elegant and spotless. The bathroom was quite luxurious and spacious including a Jacuzzi tub. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here the next time I am in Montreal.

Montreal at your front door!

Pros: Quite simply everything!
Cons: Nothing
Location-Location-Location The Hotel Nelligan is a small boutique hotel located on St. Paul Street, the main boulevard running through Old Montreal. Loaded with find restaurants and shops, this street is bustling from dawn to midnight with visitors and partygoers. Our junior suite was very large and comfortable with an oversize bathroom containing oversize Jacuzzi and shower. The Hotel Nelligan is an international hotel with a very, very friendly and helpful staff. You can exchange US to Canadian at the front desk at a very good rate, with a great breakfast menu from European continental to the best eggs Benedict I had in quite a while!

A lovely hotel in the heart of Vieux Montréal.

The location in the heart of Vieux Montréal is very convenient to the many attractions and restaurants within walking distance. Our room was well outfitted and quiet, with a very comfortable bed. The restaurants attached to the hotel (Méchant Boeuf and Verses) were excellent. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. In short, there was nothing at all to detract from a wonderful stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

In the heart of Old Montreal

Pros: Comfort, location, cleanliness, food and drinks, staff
Cons: Uncertain if it might have been housekeeping staff that took things from the mini-bar
Location: Go to Bonaparte, a delightful, quiet French restaurant; visit the Basilica of Notre Dame; walk, eat, take pictures, and enjoy French-Canadian culture
We were very comfortable at this beautiful hotel, which is well located for strolling the streets of Old Montreal, people watching along the St. Lawrence River, catching a hop-on/hop-off bus for an overview of the city, and enjoying marvelous meals at a wide variety of fine restaurants. If you go, be sure to have a drink, snack, or meal at the rooftop terrace. For breakfast, try the classic, which is delicious and plentiful and costs half the price of the buffet. The concierge and reception staff are most accommodating and exude the charm and friendliness characteristic of the Canadian people. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel. While counter space in the bathroom is limited, a shelving unit provided room for our toiletries, and the tub was deep and enjoyable. We were impressed with the quality of our experience: high-end bed linens; beautifully prepared, delicious food; comfortable and attractive common areas for hanging out. If you are fit, you can easily walk to the small Chinatown and the Village, among other neighborhoods, but you will want a ride to Mont Royal, McGill University, Little Italy, and the larger museums, which are well worth visiting. Our only disappointment with our stay was that at checkout, we were told that several items had been charged to the mini-bar, which we did not use. The desk clerk did not charge us for the items. Keep a watchful eye, but go to Hotel Nelligan!
