The property was stunning. I read reviews previously that stated how the host thought of everything, and they truly did. The outdoor space, the huge doors, makes you feel like you're part of the jungle but with luxury and hi-tech upgrades.

The house and amenities were exceptional. I didn’t realize the owner was staying on property in a different home, however, they were lovely to interact with. The home is tech-heavy while being immersed in nature and the landscape around it. We would stay here again.

The owner has thought of everything you could ever want in a VRBO. Large sliding glass doors in the main living area look into lush plants and trees- the beauty of that side of Hawaii.Gorgeous kitchen with quite a few small appliances i.e.3 different ways to make coffee. Beautiful bathrooms must be new.Thank you owner and manager!

We had a fantastic stay at the Lava Rock Retreat. The house was exactly what we expected and was a nice relaxing getaway after the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. The backyard and grounds were peaceful and we loved enjoying our morning coffee on the lanai. Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us.

A relaxing get away

This rental was one of the best I stayed at! It was so peaceful and well thought out! The jungle is literally in your back yard. It was the longest I stayed inside my rental on vacation since it was so relaxing! The jacuzzi was the cherry on top!

Can we just move in?

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our second time staying at Lava Rock Retreat. Two years ago, we stumbled upon this fabulous rental, and now we are fulfilling our promise to always add a few days here on every future Hawaii trip. We planned time here with the full intention to just enjoy the peacefulness of this property and keep the sightseeing activities to a minimum – that’s how much we love it. This home is pristine. Nothing is out of place, even the utensils are still perfectly aligned (which suits my OCD tendencies very nicely). I was so happy to see that there is not one sign of wear and tear at all, it is still in the same perfect condition we found it the first time. And bonus - the evening rain paired with the coqui frogs mating call creates the perfect symphony to which we fall asleep very easily. The owners are very sweet, non-intrusive, and have thought of every single detail in this home to ensure your stay is perfect. Will keep returning even after we've exhausted every activity, tourist site, and restaurant Hilo has to offer...because it is just such a treat to stay here. Aloha!

One of a kind property in a great location.

The property is located in a nice residential neighborhood 10 minutes from downtown Hilo and 45 minutes from Volcanoes National Park. The yard is a botanical garden. This is a “smart house” with a lot of the current technology.
