The Hideaway Mason Lake - A Private Escape

The Hideaway is a perfect place to disconnect from your everyday lives, unplug from your phones, and feel the serenity that comes with a private escape nestled in the woods. With no visible neighbors, you can completely relax knowing The Hideaway's backyard is truly a private experience. We've added new decking, a 6-person barrel sauna complete with an outdoor shower, and a new spot for the hot tub right out the back door. Ask about our Single Traveler Rates. 


We've designed this space to give you the feeling of staying in a 5-star hotel, but with all the privacy of home. We know you're going to LOVE it here!  Our open floor plan allows everyone to be together for morning coffee or movie nights. When its time to settle in for the night, the bedrooms are on opposite sides of the home to ensure a quiet and peaceful night's sleep. We invite you to create delicious meals in our well-appointed chef's kitchen with an extra-large island for prepping and dining, and a brand new Samsung range with a 5-heating-element cooktop.  


If the weather allows, take your meal outside and enjoy the fresh air while you dine on our outdoor dining table on our new back deck. While you're outside, enjoy our new hot tub location on the lower deck, or detox your tired hiking muscles in the 6-person barrel sauna complete with outdoor shower to cool off under.  Cozy up to a wood fire in the wood fire-pit overlooking a beautiful ravine with mature pines. Or, when there's a burn ban, use either of our two gas fire tables to warm up or toast s'mores! If it's a rainy PNW day, snuggle in with a good book on our Cuddler,  or chill on the sofa for a movie marathon with Netflix, Paramount+, Amazon Prime, Hulu, HBOMax, or one of our many DVDs. We also have cards, puzzles and many board games for hours of endless fun. 


We hope you'll get a great night's sleep on our Brooklyn Bedding King (marshmallowy-soft) mattress or the Tuft and Needle Queen (medium firmness) bed in the 2nd Bedroom. Wake up refreshed and enjoy a cup of joe from the coffee maker, Nespresso, or french press. Take a bath in the soaking tub in our main bath or a  luxurious shower in our massive two-headed shower in the ensuite bath. However you spend your time, we know you will be able to relax and find peace at The Hideaway at Mason Lake.  


Our guests will have access to our home and the acreage around it. We are at the end of the driveway and back up to Green Diamond Resource Company Land (look it up). We have access to to this land through trails at the back of the property. We are also working on a private trail system on the front half of the property.   There is plenty of room to park. We even have an EV hook-up! Currently, we do not allow guests to use the garage.  We will give instructions on how to access our home once you book. If you would like us to meet you and hand off keys, that can be arranged, but you will likely not see us.  We will be available by text and, depending on the time of day, we can be to the home within the hour if you need help with anything.  


Mason Lake is a beautiful lake to explore. With no quiet times, you can have all the fun of being on the lake and then come back to a quiet retreat in the woods. Only 20 minutes from the Alderbrook resort you can enjoy dining, golfing, hiking, the spa, and year-round phenomenal views of the Olympic Mountains. Also, just about a 20-minute drive from Belfair and Shelton if you want to go for pizza or enjoy some shopping.  


Twahno State Park is about 15 minutes drive and has public access boat launches into the Hood Canal, a beach, and more hiking!  Belfair is about a 20-minute drive and has two grocery stores, many coffee huts and gas stations, fast-food, bars, and the North Mason Chamber of Commerce.  


Shelton is about a 25-minutes drive and has a Walmart, fast food, gas stations, bars, antique stores, and the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce.  


Hoodsport is about a 35-minute drive and has a couple eateries and wineries, a distillery, and water access to the Hood Canal. If you drive another 30 minutes to the Olympic National Park Staircase Ranger station there are many beautiful trails to explore.  


OTHER IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE 
If you will be accompanied by your pet or pets, please make sure to pay the pet fee. This automatically lets us know that you are bringing a pet and then we can prepare for them before and after your stay. If you neglect to pay this fee and show up with a pet, you will be charged triple the amount of our normal pet fee.    


We have space enough for 6 guests. The desk in the 2nd bedroom is a Murphy bed and pulls out to sleep 2 on a queen mattress. We also have a twin cot with a this mattress suitable for children under 60 lbs. Or, or the mattress can also be added to the sofa for an adult to sleep there. We do not recommend that guests sleep on the couch without the added comfort of the cot mattress.  


We only have beach access along the Hood Canal at the Twanoh State Park (You will need a Discovery pass to park here). 


You can rent small water crafts from SUP boards to pontoon boats at The Alderbrook Resort and Spa.   


There is public access to Mason Lake by way of the Public Dock. We do not have private access to the lake.
