Overpriced and full of ladybugs
While we were unpacking, we realized that one of the bedrooms was full of ladybugs. Not a few, but infested with them. When I contacted the owner, I was told that my paperwork stated that this might be an issue; I checked every correspondence I received, nowhere did it say the unit may be full of bugs, or I wouldn't have paid the amount I paid. Maintenance came in the morning and tried to clear them out, which made things a little better, but none of us really wanted to sleep in that room so we lost a bedroom. I work in property management, if you have a bug problem, you find the entry point and seal it! The host and PM company were not very helpful, and basically said "too bad". If you want to check out right now, we'll give you a full refund. We drove 6 hours with 2 babies, so that wasn't an option on Thanksgiving.
The unit wasn't really large enough for the amount of people I had booked it for, and it wasn't very clean; there were no working lights in one of the bedrooms, and no batteries in the remotes for the TV's. The pictures were a little deceiving as far as the size of the place. I had assumed it was an older property being familiar with Gatlingburg, but it was presented as having been updated, and it really wasn't.
We did see bears every night which was cool, and it was a nice location, but not worth what I paid. I probably wouldn't have been as irritated with the situation had I paid a more reasonable amount, but I paid a "luxury" price.
