"For a property charging roughly $1,500 per night, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. The issue started when I found bugs in my room. I called the front desk to ask if they had any mosquito or bug spray available and was told they did not. When I explained that there were bugs in the room, I was then asked where the bug was and whether I could point it out. The interaction felt less like they were trying to help and more like I was being asked to prove that the bug existed. Bugs move, and it’s not always possible to immediately locate one again after you’ve seen it. Eventually, someone was sent to the room with a spray bottle. However, the bottle appeared to contain some type of cleaning solution rather than an actual insect treatment. It had a strong chemical smell and left the room smelling unpleasant afterward. At no point was I given confidence that the underlying issue was actually being addressed. That night, I was woken up by a bug in my bed. I reached down because my arm felt itchy and ended up touching the bug, which startled me awake. I barely slept the rest of the night. What frustrates me most is not even the bug itself. Hotels near the beach can occasionally have insects. The real issue was the response. Instead of taking a guest’s concern seriously and working to resolve it, I felt dismissed from the beginning. The handling of the situation felt unprofessional and, frankly, insulting."
