Sonnenalp
"An absolutely hands down fantastic experience for our family (a toddler, 5 year old, and us) from the second we walked in the door, to the second we walked out. Architecturally, the hotel is a delight inside and out. The pictures almost don’t do the place justice - everything about the Sonnenalp is so effortlessly charming, luxurious without trying to be, European, cozy, inviting, you name it. Staff were excellent and welcoming at every step. The pool area with its poolside bar + room service were a life saver for us parents and worth their weight in gold. If there is anything negative I could say about the experience is us (saw several other families as well) get “shushed” for kids basically existing in the indoor pool area which is a “quiet zone” due to the spa. The hotel is VERY family friendly and the guest makeup shows it, and us and the others that were told to be quiet were not rambunctious in any sense - we are talking kids can’t laugh at reasonable volume. We were also shushed for a crying toddler - but the only restrooms are in the spa area and the indoor walk was unavoidable. Felt a bit unfair and more like poor design of the spa area if the target guests include families. Just something to be aware of, but it will NOT detract us in any way from coming back probably yearly. Finally - much of the clientele clearly comes from wealth; however, we’re very normal and this was a high end trip for us; we were left feeling that the Sonnenalp was worth every penny."
