Comfortable stay in Columbia

I was looking for a hotel reasonably close to Fort Jackson. It was clean and comfortable. I like the separate spaces as I tend to wake up before my wife.

Terribly noisy

We were on second floor in a suite. People above noisy heavy walking foldout bed quesky from 10 pm to 130 am. Sound came through ceiling as if no baffling there. We could not sleep finally called front desk. Noise abated within fifteen minutes and we finally got to sleep. If you stay there get on third floor. Big fan of Marriott hotels and never had this problem before. Building construction quality questionable.

Excellent hotel & staff

We had a very wonderful time and staff was very helpful, caring, willing to go over and beyond job responsibilities. The staff was happy to be there and had a positive attitude. The rooms were very nice with excellent housekeeping skills. We came to see our son graduate from basic training and the hotel and staff made us feel a part of their family. Thank you! It added so much to our family experience!!

Disappointing for Residence Inn & Marriott

Pros: The breakfast was very good and the staff maintained the area nicely and were always friendly and helpful.
As a family our "go to" property has always been Residence Inns.Our family traveled to Columbia, SC for a spring break getaway and could not have been more disappointed by the quality of this property as well as the lack of accommodations the staff provided. The pool area was not cleaned one time during our five day stay. The chairs were a disarray with leftover garbage and items laying around the pool deck. There were no pool towels although they were provided if you asked at the front desk. The fitness room water was empty and not changed throughout the stay as well as the fact there, too, towels were not refreshed. The sport court was being resurfaced, yes - during a popular spring break week - and this information was not posted on the hotel property website when we booked our trip as that too would have influenced our family's choice.The quality of the furnishing in the room (primarily cabinetry and end tables and coffee tables) were worn and our refrigerator was dented with what appeared to be an uncleanable film on the front. I will state that the breakfast area was well maintained and the staff were very friendly and helpful which was not always the case at the front desk. We had, in fact, purchased our vacation as a package through Travelocity and was told because of that our status as Marriott Rewards Members, "didn't really matter." I certainly will not be recommending this property. Very disappointing.

Great Place to Stay

Pros: Everything.
Cons: I had some trouble initially with the thermostat when the room was too warm. Perhaps some directions could be posted.
Location: There was a Cracker Barrel right next door. Other restaurants and places to shop were 5 to 15 minutes away, with rush hour traffic.
I was in town for a seminar and it was cheaper to stay at the Residence Inn instead of the one where the seminar was held. Instead of just an overpriced room, I had a bedroom, bath and a sitting area with a small kitchenette. There was a "meet the guests" night with free beer, wine and snacks on the night that I was there. Breakfast was great. I have had rewarmed egg "patties" at fancier places. Here, the eggs actually were freshly scrambled. All staff, including the wait staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall wonderful stay

Pros: Free breakfast, Free Internet, Quiet
It was a wonderful stay overall.Breakfast was too crowded. They need more space. Very hard to bring the breakfast back to the room with kids and all. The sofa sleeper was very uncomfortable for my kids. The room was extremely clean and the hot tub was awesome!!!! The kitchen was stocked with everything needed to cook. We really did enjoy it!!!

exceptional

The room was exceptionally clean. The bed was a comfort and the surrounding was beautiful, well landscaped, and convenient. The staff was quick and courtious to our requests. It was a comfort to be far away from home and to be greeted by a beautiful person- Dorithia- every day to make our stay feel like home. Thank you for making our visit such a pleasure. I highly suggest this hotel for everyone.
