Good location, Nice breakfast

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Mild moise from dancing thater
Location: Palace gruel and everything around rampla
Were pleased with everything. In the morning restaurant sometimes busy as it is usually booked by tourists, many from Spain.

Outstanding value and location.

Pros: location and value
Location: Walk around in the old district, shopping, port area and wonderful restaurants. Also a nice play ground for the kids two blocks away.
Wonderful location on the Ramblas a very vibrant street leading to many great sites to visit with in a 30 min walk. The staff was wonderful during the booking phase all the way through our stay and check out. Could not have asked for more from them. Great breakfast with a wide variety of selection. The room we had was very spacious with a view of the Ramblas which we enjoyed. Rooms varied in size significantly and our group included family with small children. The staff did a great job of sorting this out for us.

Lack of security spoils trip

Pros: The terrace was amazing, with a 270-degree view of the city.
Cons: Keep the front doors closed!
Location: This hotel is on La Rambla, which is as good as it gets in Barcelona.
Our stay in this hotel was severely compromised by the theft of a suitcase from the hotel lobby as were registering at the desk. There is no apparent security, although there are cameras. The problem is that both front doors are open to the public constantly. There was only one person at the front desk when this happened, and she seemed quite unconcerned when we immediately informed her of the theft. We had to ask her about filing a police report, and she gave us directions to the nearest station. Spending the morning at the local police station does not make for a good stay. We later spoke with other people working the front desk and none of them seemed too concerned about the theft. The room was very spartan, but adequate. The terrace was amazing, and the best part of this hotel.

Great service, value, location & comfort.

Spent a lot of time arranging an extended family vacation to Barcelona from around the world. Which changing plans and flights and the Ramblas responded to every request quickly and positively. The larger rooms where spacious and reasonably priced while providing all the room needed. Wonderful breakfast included and the staff always helpful. Walk out the door and everything is within walking distance making Barcelona many delights easily available. Older hotel but has all the convince needed. Would go back again.

Room was just ok for the money and the breakfast was good.

Pros: Free breakfast, Close restaurants, Free Internet, great location.
Our room didn't have a window, which felt strange. The bed was two twin beds made up as one bed, so if one of us rolled to close to the middle, we fell in the crack. The bed was also very uncomfortable, like one of the kind that goes on a bunkbed. There were only hand towels and bath towels available, no facial wash clothes. Soap, shampoo and toothbrushes supplied but no hair conditioner. On the plus, bathroom was clean, nice shower, plenty of hot water. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was sufficient to start the day with - we didn't leave hungry. Location on the Rambla was great. Personnel were friendly and spoke passing to excellent English. However, if we go to Barcelona again, I think we would not choose this hotel.

Friendly Staff

Pros: Close restaurants, Free Internet
Cons: rooms are small but adequate
The hotel is not the Ritz, and it's certainly not the best on the avenue, but it is clean and the staff are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful which makes up for everything else. Breakfast is quite adequate (eggs, coldcuts, fruit, breads, cereal, bacon, sausages, baked beans, some sort of dessert similar to a flan etc) and the hotel is near to a few of Gaudi's buildings - walking distance actually. Metro is nearby as well. WIFI in the room is a plus and free! There are lots of shops in the area, and a mall beyond the boardwalk that is open on Sundays. The front desk recommended some fabulous restaurants nearby, we did not have one bad meal while there, even when we had lunch at the mall - the seafood is fabulous. Be careful of the area, I guess most of Barcelona, the pick-pocketers are truly skilled. I would have posted a few images but my camera was stolen along with my wallet, glasses and cellphone.

Sleepless in Barcelona

My husband and I were disappointed with this hotel. We had a room without a window and when asked to change we were told 40% of hotel rooms in Barcelona don't have windows. Had I known this, I would have done more research and requested a regular window. The carpet was dirty and the decor was worn and dated. The bathroom was clean but had a strange odor. Most of the staff were friendly and spoke English. The location is very near the waterfront however, which is nice however, the hotel is in a "red light" district and we didn't feel safe at night. After walking around the city, we found other hotels that were nicer and less expensive. I would not stay here again.

From senior travelers

We disembarked from a transatlantic cruise in Barcelona and stayed three nights in Barcelona at the Ramblas Hotel. The hotel certainly is not up to standards and we made a mistake selecting a hotel on the Ramblas. It is not a safe area especially at night where the activity goes on throughout the night. The people who work at the hotel are very nice but have no control over the circumstances. The room itself is bare bones but the bathroom is done well. I would recommend staying somewhere other than the Ramblas and certainly visiting the area during the daytime.

Nice hotel, great location

We had a nice room at the back of the hotel. Subsequently, the view was lousy, but we weren't there for the view from our room. The hotel location was fantastic, an easy walk down Las Ramblas to the water front. Many food options and great people watching. My wife and I were there with our 12 & 10 year old, and it was great. I would definitely stay there again, and would recommend the hotel to friends and family.
