The unit itself appeared clean and accurately represented in the listing photos. However, after arriving, I decided not to stay and found alternative accommodations.As a solo female traveler visiting Baltimore, I rely heavily on feeling safe and comfortable in unfamiliar surroundings. Shortly after arriving, I observed individuals closely watching me enter and exit the property, witnessed loud yelling, profanity, and verbal altercations nearby, and felt increasingly uneasy as evening approached. In the surrounding area, I also observed vacant and boarded-up buildings, individuals who appeared to be struggling with substance abuse, and significant litter and debris. While I did not experience a direct criminal incident, these observations made me uncomfortable.I was concerned by the extensive security measures, including bars and multiple padlocks on doors. Additionally, I noticed marijuana odors that triggered my allergies despite specifically seeking a smoke-free accommodation.What disappointed me most was the host's response to my concerns. Rather than acknowledging my experience, I felt my concerns were dismissed as assumptions or bias; plus, accused of being dishonest. While the host may have positive experiences living there, guests are entitled to their own comfort levels.Although I left the property after one night (instead of 8 days), the host was unwilling to consider any form of refund. I highly encourage future guests to research the area prior to booking.
