"There are 2 great things about this hotel - the history and the restaurant. Although the hotel burned down 3 times since most of the history happened, it's still neat knowing you are standing where famous things happened. In practical terms, by far the best feature was the high quality dinner! We were floored. After being in the Outback for a few days, we were accustomed to chicken parmi being the standard menu at every restaurant in every town. At the North Gregory, though - wow! These meals were unique, incredibly flavourful, and beautifully presented. I had the falafel salad and my husband had the pork cutlet - both were absolutely outstanding! For the rest of the hotel, it's Art Deco style, so a bit funky. Room was very small (but large bathroom). Mattress and pillows were OK. Room was a bit dilapidated - paint and plaster peeling from walls, large crack in window, no hot water at 7am (but was hot again at 8am). The beer garden out back was great - they had a Bush Poet providing entertaining stories from the area for an hour, followed by live music."
