"This hotel is a bit of culture shock for European travellers. Shared bathrooms were something I did not expect but I’ve since discovered it’s common in country hotels in Australia. The hotel was being renovated, there were builders everywhere making a lot of noise with machinery early in the morning. Our bedroom at the booking stage was advertised as having a balcony but we ended up with a room with no window! It was a busy time in Kalgoorlie so we could not find an alternative hotel in the town but I think that the hotel should not have accepted guests considering the substantial renovation going on. The one good point was the excellent fillet steak meal we had there in the restaurant when were confined to the hotel during a thunderstorm - best steak we’ve had in months!"
