Rough Stay
Booked here for 3 nights, ended up checking out early and getting a refund for the last night. The room is not cleaned unless you ask which is not mentioned, we asked for the room to be clean when leaving the hotel at 9am. We arrived back at 2.30pm and the room was not cleaned, we waited awhile incase they were behind but no one came. Called reception and were given another room, the other room was also not cleaned. Were told that the cleaners had left already so there was nothing they could do. The bed was awful both myself and partner woke up with a bad back. Paying for the meal does not include the bar menu, the restaurant food was okay but did not have a great deal of choice.

Relaxing break
Just returned from our second visit to Derwentwater. Yes, it's a little tired and in desperate need of some TLC but the staff make up for it. Very helpful front of house, great bar staff and the restaurant manager went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Fantastic location with amazing views across huge gardens. This hotel has so much potential. Food average, buffet breakfast with nice choice - one downside they must have the slowest toasters in the world. Popped the bread in got my husband and myself some breakfast (self serve), walked into the conservatory where we were sat with our dog, went back in and still not popped up. Overall despite a few niggles it would not stop us going back

Had very good stay with staff very happy to help, food was good, but hotel very run down needs revamped in all areas, room very dusty & webs all over, could not fault staff.

A bit run down but staff were friendly and helpful. Except I did order the buffet breakfast that's laid out in the restaurant and then told dogs weren't allowed in there which made it awkward seen as I was a solo traveller! Basically paid £10 for a couple of croissants as I couldn't go back and get more because of my having my dog on my own.
