Perfectly adequate
This is my family’s second stay at massanutten. Overall, we will keep coming back for the convenience (and the hotel is not the main reason for being there!) but I’d say it’s a 2 star experience.
The good:
- the apartment was spacious and well located.
- check out was easy (by text)
- the redone apartment was clean on arrival
- the facilities and grounds have lots to do
The eh:
- I didn’t appreciate the sales pitch at check in. I was tired from a long drive, and the woman talked at me a mile a minute, promising me lots of discounts and free things if I came to a breakfast on Sunday morning. I hate those kinds of pitches.
- there were not enough blankets in the apartment. The thin bed cover was not enough and for the amt of ppl in the unit, more blankets would be nice.
- the pillows were awful. Either hard lumps or too soft squishy things with no feathers.
- the kitchen is very poorly stocked. Nice to have a kitchen but hard to cook much with the little they had.
- the dishwasher smelled awful. No idea what was going on there, but it smelled like a dirty horse stall and left the dishes with the same smell.
- you have to do a lot at check out (strip beds, take out garbage) for the price you pay.
- pools on site dont open until 11 and close at 7. Kids were disappointed since we didn’t get to do the pool on the day of our arrival or departure. It’s not very accessible with these hours. Hotels usually have much better pool hours.
