Downtown Tucson

Colorful adobe houses, coffee shops and boutiques full of character, as well as a bustling market popular with locals and tourists alike, all await in Downtown Tucson.

You'll find Tucson pretty smooth no matter where you stay, but this charming city is even harder to resist when you get to spend plenty of time in its Downtown area. This is where several picturesque historic neighborhoods converge, and most of the city's exciting dining, nightlife and shopping options are concentrated. Culture, you say? There’s that too. It's all happening here in the heart of the city.

The city's Hispanic influences are strongly felt wherever you go and whatever you do; especially when you're filling up on all those spicy, delicious Mexican treats that are so abundant in the restaurants here. In the historic parts of Downtown, however, the city's roots are even harder to miss than elsewhere. Prepare to be seriously cheered up, even if you're feeling pretty cheery already, by the multicolored adobe houses scattered throughout the streets. Hot pinks, tangerine hues and deep purples; the streetscapes are a photographer’s dream.

Congress Street is the liveliest part of Downtown Tucson and a great place to spend an afternoon browsing vintage stores, checking out little galleries and chilling in coffee shops. If you're in the mood for a grander cultural offering, head north to the Tucson Museum of Art or south to the Museum of Contemporary Art.

The nightlife in Downtown Tucson offers a little bit of something for everyone. If you want to go dancing, you can do it here. Drinking an elaborate cocktail at a bar with very serious bartenders is also not a problem. And unwinding with a beer at a dive bar? You'll be spoilt for choice.
