A beautiful Thanksgiving - and a great start for Christmas...
When our kids were young we'd head to Plumas County to celebrate Thanksgiving, and at the end of a trip find a Christmas tree in Plumas National Forest for our home. One of our young adult offspring suggested doing that this year, and this home was our base for the week. The home was beyond fantastic. It was spacious enough for our large-sized brood - whether we were playing games at the big table in the dining area, watching telly, or just laying near the wood-burning stove (and the owners supplied ample firewood to keep us warm all week). The kitchen space enabled mutliple hands to prep Thanksgiving dinner - and breakfasts and lunches and snacks, and unlike most VRBOs, the cookware, knives and more would make most chefs quite happy. The beds and bedding matched the kichen in quality, as did the large sofas to loaf on. We enjoyed the hot tub after a daily chilling winter dip in Lake Davis -- though I suspect we weren't supposed to take such a dip (so forget I said that). The house is next to the national forest, so we enjoyed multiple mountain-air-fresh long walks during the day and just before bedtime. Except for the jaunts to Lake Davis this lovely home was so comfortable we had little reason to want to explore nearby mountain towns or play golf, but such activities are saved for our next trip up. The home provided a perfect place to create lifetime memories for all who were there.

Beautiful home and location
Our family of 4 (kids 13 and 11) loved our 6 night stay at Lair of the Bear. It was the perfect home base to come back to after busy days of fishing, hiking, golfing, and lake swimming in the beautiful area. The wrap around deck is wonderfully shaded in the evening and provided a perfect place to relax, have a cold drink, and use the nice grill after busy days. Sitting on the deck gave a great view of the forest and mountains and felt very secluded. Exactly the escape from the city that we were looking for. The living room couches were so comfortable that my wife is already trying to find them so she can get them for our house. The kitchen had everything you need, the acres of adjoining forest land were great for walking the dog, the bedrooms were large (and my daughter loved having her own en suite bathroom in her room), and the decor was mountainy but upscale and fun. The kids also enjoyed the hot tub and the hot tub towels provided in each room was a nice touch. The house was very clean and well taken care of. It felt brand new. Christina was easy to communicate with for check in and check out and we didn’t have to communicate at all during the stay because everything worked perfectly. We‘ll definitely be back!

Location and amenities as nice as described/pictured. Owner was quick to respond with any questions. Next to forest service land and 25 min drive to Lakes Basin trailheads, so plenty of outdoor opportunities.

Amazing Beautiful Property, Clean, Comfortable.
We are a family of 6 adults plus 2 kids under 3, plus one dog and everyone enjoyed the stay. The house is beautiful, clean, comfortable. We are a family that loves to cook the kitchen was well equipped for garment cooking. The deck was great we used the BBQ and ate outside a few nights. We went fishing nearby at caught some beautiful trout. We loved the jacuzzi especially after a long day of hiking and fishing. It’s a short drive to grocery stores and restaurants. The owners we excellent and very responsive and helpful. This place is a gem and we hope to be back soon.
