Too close for true comfort

Pros: Location. Restaurant. Front Desk staff.
Cons: More care to the small things. Moldy bath mat and stained throw do not make a good first impression.
Location: Richmond is actually part of London, but more like a suburb. This is a walker's paradise. Down Richmond Hill to the Thames path or across the meadows.
Had a 3-night stay in a Hill Collection King - Deluxe room in the new wing. The room made great use of space - because it was incredibly small. Slept next to the small former bar fridge beneath the nightstand. Could reach over the nightstand to touch the desk. Wound up turning the desk around and moving it against the window for the feeling of more room. Closing off the bathroom meant moving an incredibly heavy partition door - which had to be moved to access the closet anyway. No available rack to hold a 29" suitcase meant it resided on the floor. Smallish provided luggage rack held the carry-on case. As usual, a king bed meant 2 singles pushed together. Unsure how this compares to a room in the original, older part of the hotel. To their credit, the room was spotless, despite a moldy bathtub mat and stains on the bed throw. Both were readily removed. . The kettle was very clean. Amenities were of a good standard. And every request was quickly and easily fulfilled. Hotel staff were most kind to put me atop the hotel in the new wing away from the noises of the weddings below. Can strongly recommend the restaurant. Food was outstanding both times I ate there. All this - and I'd stay there again as the views across the street atop Richmond Hill will take your breath away.
