Not Ready Upon Check In
After a 6 hour drive, I was disappointed to find the rental was not ready upon my arrival. When I walked into the rental, the odor of inexpensive perfume was very strong and seemed as if the previous occupants had literally just left. The bedding and towels were not refreshed, and the space had not been cleaned of trash and crumbs.
The host was unreachable and I had left a message. I left the property and had to find last minute accommodations at a local hotel. After checking in to the hotel, I contacted Vrbo directly, and they were able to finally reach the host where a three way call was initiated. They seemed very cavalier, but apologized when venting my frustration and honored my request for a full refund.
Things to note, the communication with the host was welcoming, friendly and attentive up until that point. It is run by an host out of state, so you may not be able to reach someone right away if you have an issue.
The space was as described and photos were accurate. Fairly cozy, but the bathroom quite small. It is a lower level unit with another rental above in the same small ranch house. There are steps from the front that lead you down to the lower basement level, it is also where the outdoor sitting space is located, not off the back door (back yard) from the kitchen like I had thought. The entrance is somewhat private from the front.
