One of the best parts of exploring new places are the memories, and when you’re traveling, you want to make sure you capture every moment. We partnered with Tesa Nicolanti of 2 Wired 2 Tired to share the top photo-editing apps to improve your travel photos.
Smartphones are amazing these days, and so are the cameras built into them. They make it easy to always be ready to snap a picture whenever that perfect moment pops up. Remember the old days when we used to have to run around the house finding the camera and then hope the battery was charged—or, even earlier, that we had enough film left for one last photo? We don’t have to worry about that anymore, as we always have our phones with us, and therefore our cameras at the ready.
When traveling, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with all there is to do, but it’s also important to take time to snap a few photos so you can remember the trip when you return. Not only are smartphones equipped with great cameras, but there are many apps out there that can bring out the best in your photos as well. That’s why I’m excited to share these photo-editing apps that will help improve your travel photos.

Adobe Photoshop Express
Adobe Photoshop Express is user-friendly and gives you automatic fixes, filters, and more. With this app you can adjust photos fast by cropping, straightening, flipping, adjusting the color, removing red-eye, and fixing pet eye glare. You can also adjust the hue, brightness, white balance. and more with easy slider controls.
Adobe Photoshop Fix
Another app from Adobe tops the list because they know photo editing, and even their apps are impressive. Adobe Photoshop Fix, free for both iOS and Android, allows you to adjust the lighting on your photo, smooth blemishes, adjust contrast, saturation, and focus, add paint, and more. You can retouch and restore your photos to have them looking their best.
Adobe Lightroom
Yet another app from Adobe makes the top of this list. This one is great for fans of Lightroom. Adobe Lightroom lets you dive in and make in-depth adjustments to photos, or you can use the easy one-tap presets. Adjust the white balance and exposure, level the photo, adjust the curves, add vignetting, dehaze, and more. You can also use the app to organize your photos and sync the photos and their changes on your computer.
Toolwiz Photos
Toolwiz Photos is an amazing app with over 200 editing tools. You can add 40+ prisma-style filters, and add art filters too. Other tools include: layers, rotate, crop, perspective, resize, reshape, flip, expand, shrink, patch, healing, lens correction, lasso, magic cutout, magic wand, draw, levels, RGB Curve, brightness, temperature, tint, contrast, toning, white balance, color balance, color effect, color transfer, day lighting, double, mirror, water reflection, soft smudge, watermark, HDR, black & white, add 20+ blurs, ad 10+ painting styles, multiple drawing options, add text, and so much more. Image-enhancing options include day, spring, night, landscape, underexposure, fog, portrait, etc., and selfie options include skin polish, face swap, whiten, slim face, makeup, height stretching, bright eye, whiten teeth, and more. It’s amazing that all this is offered in one app; it’s definitely one to have downloaded as you embark on your travels.
Camera Zoom fx
Named “The Best Camera App for Android” by Lifehacker, Camera Zoom fx is used by millions of people and is designed to make your travel photos shine. While it offers a full editing studio, what makes it stand out from other apps are the features you can use while taking a photo. With Action Shot, you can capture up to 50 shots per second. The full manual controls allow you to manage exposure compensation, ISO, focus, white balance, shutter speed, and more. When you turn on the image stabilizer, the on-screen monitor will tell you how steady you are holding your device. You can also create collages, use HDR mode, set a self-timer, and even create time-lapse photo sequences. These many wonderful features can be used to help you snap the perfect photo or edit it afterwards.
Lens Distortions
Want to add that little something extra to your travel photos like the pros do? Then download Lens Distortions. This app offers a variety of filter packs that are 100% optically captured to give rich detail to your photos. You can add fog, light hits, shimmer, and more. It’s a fun and easy way to add a bit of extra to your photos by making it look like the sun is shining brightly from the corner of your shot, or the fog is rolling in, or giving your festive photos a shimmering effect.
Mextures
Mextures is a fantastic app that allows you to make beautiful edits quickly. You can choose from hundreds of hand-curated textures, authentic film presets, and professional-grade adjustments. The app offers over 150 textures that you can apply with a quick tap; you can even make layers and add multiple textures. They have texture packs titled Radiance, Grit and Grain, Light Leaks, Light Leaks 2, Emulsion, Grunge, Landscape Enhance, Vintage Gradience, and more. The textures add a unique element to your photos, and I especially like the landscape option especially for travel photos. Not only can you add textures, but you can adjust the level at which they are applied and then make additional adjustments as well, including exposure, contrast, temperature, fade, highlights, tint, shadows, and more. This app is a must-have for those with a passion for photography who want beautiful results.
These photo-editing apps can help you preserve your travel memories for years to come. These are some of the best, and they will make your photos memorable and ones you’ll want to frame or give as gifts to share with others.
