Who doesn’t love a good college town tradition? We’ve partnered with lifestyle blogger (and mom of three) Greta Perry from Kiss My Gumbo to discover one of her favorite places to enjoy a Saturday football game.
Since my son is in his second year at Ole Miss, Oxford has become one of my new favorite destinations. It is consistently ranked as one of the most beautiful college campuses, year after year. But, Saturday before a football game, the large grassy area, referred to as “The Grove,” becomes a sea of pop-up tents. Each tent is more lavishly decorated than the next. You will find chandeliers, elaborate floral arrangements, TVs, fine china and catered and/or huge homemade spreads of food, enough to feed everyone in your tent and probably those of your neighboring tents.

Sitting in a tent, you are also guaranteed to watch a fashion show go by as, like you may recall from the movie , everyone is dressed to the nines. T-shirts and jeans are nowhere to be found as you enter the arches of the Walk of Champions. You don’t even have to go to the game, or stay in your own tent, as Southern hospitality is alive and well. Just be prepared to say and hear “Hotty Toddy” the entire day. After the game, you also may want to venture over to “The Square” — Oxford is the epitome of the college town.
