Set between the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, Los Cabos is a land of contrast and fun for the entire family. We’ve partnered with Susan Lanier-Graham of Wander With Wonder to show us two great all-inclusive resorts in Los Cabos, Mexico that are ideal multigenerational playgrounds.

I adore Los Cabos—literally, the two different sides of Cabos. You can create whichever experience you want, and it can be a family-friendly, multigenerational escape. Los Cabos, Mexico is easily accessible from almost anywhere in the U.S. with daily nonstop flights from most major hubs. Two of my favorite resorts both offer all-inclusive stays and each offers something just a bit unique. Come along with me and let’s wander the magic that is Los Cabos Mexico.

Lux-Inclusive Family Vacation at Grand Velas Los Cabos

It’s not often that you find a seaside, AAA Five-Diamond All-Inclusive resort that is also family friendly. That’s exactly what is waiting at Grand Velas Los Cabos. And, as they say from the moment you arrive in the lobby, the magic begins here.

When you arrive at Grand Velas Los Cabos, you definitely feel that magic from the moment you arrive. You hear the pounding ocean from the open air lobby and it draws you to the overlook, where the fifth-floor vantage point offers inspirational views of the tip of the Baja Peninsula and the Sea of Cortez.

While the concierge checked me in, I had a 3-minute neck massage. I turned and noticed the incredible details in the structure of the building, which had just celebrated its first anniversary in November 2017. In addition, the lobby is filled with gorgeous artwork.

It became a treat to wander the various levels of the resort looking for more masterpieces. I found the combination of detailed woodwork and whimsical art came together beautifully in the restaurants. No detail is left undone and the resort’s hospitality is second to none.

Family Features at Grand Velas Los Cabos Mexico

Not only is Grand Velas Los Cabos a pure luxury retreat, it is ideal for the entire family. The concierge butler service can help you get unpacked and ready to start your vacation. And, at this all-inclusive luxury resort, not even the kids have to worry. The Kid’s Club is open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. and services are complimentary for children 4 to 12. There are fun activities all day long, from art and crafts and storytelling to movies and Xbox. Furthermore, after-hours babysitting (or for those under age 4) is available at standard hourly rates. An evening meal is served each day at 6:30 p.m.

Have teenagers who would just be too cool to hang with the adults? No worries. The Grand Velas Los Cabos Teens’ Club is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for those 13 to 18 years old. This is a supervised club with a house DJ using the resort’s state-of-the-art sound system, a chic bar serving non-alcoholic drinks, pool table, Xbox Kinect, dance floor and more.

Of course, when you all want to spend time together, the resort has beautiful outdoor pools. There are three pools, one of which is adults-only. The pounding surf is below, an easy stroll for those want to take a walk along the sandy shores.

Dining at Grand Velas Los Cabos Mexico

Your all-inclusive stay at Grand Velas Los Cabos Mexico includes luxury dining experiences at the resort’s restaurants. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner à la carte or buffet at Azul. This restaurant offers a fun, yet innovative nautical theme on the water’s edge with indoor and outdoor dining.

Also, I suggest grabbing ceviche during the day at Cabrilla where the pool views and ocean breezes offer a perfect spot to relax.

Dinner is served à la carte in five signature restaurants—Frida (gourmet Mexican), Piaf (traditional French), Lucca (Italian-Mediterranean), Cocina de Autor (a 10-course tasting menu of creative-evolutionary cuisine) and Velas 10 (fine seafood and Wagyu steaks).

I recommend grabbing a table outdoors one night at Velas 10 and ordering the octopus. That’s definitely a moment to remember.

Most of all, however, Cocina de Autor offers an evening dining experience just for the adults that you won’t soon forget. The adjoining bar serves up some fabulous cocktails. Go a few minutes early for wine or drinks. It’s a great atmosphere.

However, dinner is the real treat. The night I dined, Chef Vincent Colauto from Amsterdam served up food that was mind-blowing at times and often made me rethink flavors I thought I knew. There is a set 10-course tasting menu filled with delights.

Pamper Yourself at the Grand Velas Spa

Finally, make sure you book time to enjoy the SE Spa by Grand Velas. I recommend the Spa Water Journey. It includes a warm jacuzzi soak, polar pool, steam room with chromotherapy, multisensorial pool, and a lovely relaxation area.

I also really enjoyed the spa treatment I had there. Each treatment includes a custom ritual. My therapist made me a little dragonfly and had me do a visualization exercise before the treatment. It was a lovely two hours and I could have spent an entire day at the SE Spa.

Hacienda-Style Family Escape at Royal Solaris Los Cabos

But not every family wants that ultra-luxury escape. Are you looking for more of a hacienda-style escape? Want something that gives you more of an old Mexican feel? You can book a multi-generational escape at Royal Solaris Los Cabos and enjoy an all-inclusive oceanfront retreat for the entire family.

Water and Beach Fun at Royal Solaris Los Cabos

Royal Solaris Los Cabos is an ideal spot for soaking up the waves and sun that are plentiful in Los Cabos. The seaside resort has three heated pools with easy beach access. You can enjoy the poolside relaxation, take a dip in the just-right water of the pool, or head to the nearby beach and chill under a palapa for siesta time. You won’t be overwhelmed with vendors on this beach, but there is an occasional passerby who offers a horseback ride for a fun way to experience the Sea of Cortez.

Meanwhile, you can rest assured that the little ones are enjoying their time in the Kid’s Club, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Available to kids from 4 to 11 years old, there is a bilingual staff ready to make your vacation extra special. Of course, The Mini Water Park with water slides, shallow pools and fountains is a park favorite! All of this is available as part of your all-inclusive package.

There is a babysitter for those under 4 at an additional charge or for after hours. If you want a great place to take the little ones, head to the new Baby Park with your tiny tot. Designed for interactive play with boys and girls up to 4 years old—as long as a parent is present—they can use the pool and water slides, playground and activity center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The Junior’s Club is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. for those 12 to 18 years old. It features board games and video games.

The resort also offers a scuba diving demo in the diving pool near the main pool. This is a great way to get a short introduction to this popular sport.

Entertainment at Royal Solaris Los Cabos

Ultimately, we all escape to Los Cabos Mexico to do just that—escape. Royal Solaris Los Cabos has plenty of opportunities for the entire family to get out and have fun.

In addition to the beach and pools, there are evening dinner shows in the Tehuacan Theater on select nights each week. The entertainment can vary depending on who is performing. When we were there, they did a sample performance and it was a fabulous mini-version of the show—acrobatics that stunned me. They performed on the hard marble lobby as we held our breath. You can watch the performances toss each other in the air and land with ease. Tapping and dancing and performing—the concierge can help you decide which activities you want to plan during your stay.

There is also live entertainment at the lobby bar. Every Saturday is the themed White Party on the sun terrace at 8:30 p.m. featuring live music and a fireworks show.

Royal Solaris Los Cabos has great fitness facilities, including tennis and basketball courts, stretching classes with some pretty awesome beach views, and aquaerobics classes. Of course, if you prefer to simply do nothing, that’s perfectly acceptable. After all, it’s your vacation!

Dining at Royal Solaris Los Cabos

The Royal Solaris Los Cabos is an all-inclusive resort and you will have plenty of dining options. You can find everything from the traditional flavors of Mexico to a creative Italian menu. I was fortunate to have had a fun cooking lesson right on the beach with Chef Hans, who represented his staff at the resort and regaled me with stories. You never know what you might find during the day at Royal Solaris.

In addition, other dining options might include themed nights—Mexican night or Latin Show sounds intriguing—or dining at any of the five restaurants. One great feature of the all-inclusive resort is that hotel gratuities and resort fees are included.

So, whether you prefer ultra-luxury or a more budget-conscious experience, there is an all-inclusive, family-friendly escape waiting for you in Los Cabos, Mexico. This paradise at the tip of the Baja peninsula is a quick plane ride away from most major U.S. cities and is a safe and fun destination for the entire family.
