About this property

Entire place

The Honey Barn & Honey House LLC

NEW gorgeous open floor plan barn cabin for rent. Beautiful Kickapoo Valley location with excellent fishing and wildlife right outside your door. A quiet place to relax yet close to many activities for the whole family. Bike Trails, Kickapoo River Canoeing & Kayaking. Spring brings the ephemerals. Wildflowers push their way through the leaves on the forest floor, and with them, the delicacies of spring—morel mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns, and ramps. Hundreds of bird species begin their migration up the Mississippi Flyway and through contiguous forests. Trout fishing begins and turkey hunters prowl the woods.

The Driftless Area is known for its trout streams. Class I streams like Timber Coulee that flows from Westby through Coon Valley towards Chaseburg, or the West Fork of the Kickapoo River, flowing through Bloomingdale and Avalanche, have the type of high quality waters to sustain natural populations of brook and brown trout.

Road Touring

A favorite activity of both visitors and residents is a leisurely drive through the countryside, along roads that wind through farmsteads, natural areas, and small towns. Whether the lacy green of early spring, the greens and golds of summer, the riot of fall colors, or the still white of winter, the colors and hues of the landscape are definitely worth the trip and you will always remember your Wisconsin road tours in the Driftless area.

The Driftless Wisconsin Road Tours Experience

You can enjoy the small family farms, the traditional barns (fast disappearing), and the dairy herds that graze up to the forest’s edge. You can drive along a river’s edge, and see sand hill cranes in a courting dance, or bald eagles filling the trees like regal ornaments. You can stop in a small town for a bite to eat, shop for a hand-crafted art object, or fill a bag to the brim with local produce.

Beautiful, Quiet, and Relaxing

We spent a couple of nights at the Honey Barn. This was a family getaway with three generations and six people. The barn worked out great for our stay. Rick was great to work with, and communicated promptly with any questions we had. The barn is quiet, cozy, and has a wonderful relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch. The barn is 15 minutes from town where it's easy to get to restaurants and grocery stores. The area roads are amazing for cruising. We definitely recommend!

Hirse, buggies and fireflies!

Being in an Amish area, we enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching multiple horse and buggies driving by with drivers waving. We had rain our entire stay, so were not able to enjoy the firepit or gas fire table on patio. But we grilled out on the gas grill and made use of the covered porch. Fireflies abound everywhere - our own silent fireworks show! We'll be back again...

Relaxing ladies trip

This was a beautiful and tranquil location. We loved waking up and just sitting on the rocking chairs in the cool mornings. We saw rabbits and deer from the front porch! Close enough to town to enjoy some bumming around. This is just what we needed. Thank you!

Book it now!

Listen y'all, this spot is really great. If you are on the fence about booking, go for it!. Rick was great to work with and responded to questions quickly. The barn/cabin is super cozy, clean, and has what you need for making meals, getting good sleep, and keeping entertained (as if the Amish buggies going by wasn't enough entertainment). We were close to town, but remote enough to feel the peace. We fished for trout almost every day - you'd need a lifetime or two to hit all the streams nearby. It's just gorgeous in this area. We will be back, and will most certainly book the barn again.

Great house

What a cool location to take our winter family trip! We loved the secluded property. The drive in was so interesting with the hills and the viewing of the Amish community. My son is obsessed with horses and barns and this place was a perfect surprise. The house was very nice and cozy. We did have to vacuum when we arrived as we have a 2 year old who would be on the floor, so it did need to be vacuumed. An alarm kept us from sleeping one night, which was awful, but the host apologized the morning after. I wish I would have known this could be turned off before losing a nights sleep. Overall, it was a very great house to spend a few days at. We would definitely go back!

Driftless Beauty

Really enjoyed the quiet location. Although there’s some occasional traffic on the road, it wasn’t annoying. It’s close to state parks and surrounded by endless hills and valleys. The cabin is stocked with most everything you need. I felt there could have been more acceptable pots and pans for cooking meals, such as a good baking sheet and updated nonstick for pancakes and eggs. A griddle would have been perfect. Beds are very comfortable. Overall, great place for our stay with awesome night skies.
