We have stayed at this hotel multiple times when in Tuscaloosa, but have never had the room be this unsatisfactory. Upon arrival we noticed that the bathroom floor along with the shower/ bathtub was dirty. The spare roll of toilet paper appeared to have been previously placed on a wet (and dirty) surface as the edge on one side of the roll was stained / discolored. Also, the queen bed closest to the door squeaked excessively.
On the second night we received a text message from the hotel asking us to rate (1 to 5) our stay so far. We replied with a 3 along with mentioning the issues above. Nya P. (I assume at the front desk) texted back, not with an apology, but with a curt response that seemed to negate our claims. Her text did oddly say, "I can pass your message along to management and they can reach out to you tomorrow and apologize for the inconvenience." We concluded the text chain with Nya P. stating "Holiday Inn Express shouldn't have you all ask people to rate their stay after the first day if they don't want to be critiqued."
This was the only time we have had any issues at this hotel and everything else during our stay was satisfactory. We are still likely stay at this hotel again in the future. They just need to ensure that the rooms are completely clean and that the agents at the front desk are trained on how to better respond to and handle guests' issues and concerns.
