This an older hotel that needs updated, but for the price it was nice. You have to ask for housekeeping. I paid extra for a cooktop and after searching the cabinets, I found a hotplate! I was hit with an extra charge upon checking in. Not sure what it was for. I was under the impression that everything was included in the Hotels.com price. There is no hotel management on site, it was all done by txt messaging.

Staff was awesome. Facility was clean and maintained. Atmosphere was perfect. There were a few things that could use a bit of TLC, but I’m not complaining. The good definitely outweighed any negatives. My only complaint would be about the pool deck. It was a bit slick. I will stay here again.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was very quiet and peaceful. The pool was very clean and clear. And the grounds are beautiful and are home to many of the native birds.

I believe this our 4th visit to the Malibu Beach Resort. It’s a terrific vintage motel (2 stories, L shaped, with a pool in the courtyard). Rooms are clean and basic, but have all that you need for a beach vacation. We stayed in a newly renovated apartment and it was awesome. The location is perfect, across the street from the beach. And within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The service is amazing. They help with everything, and have coffee for you in the AM. Deb and her team are great! Highly recommend!

It was just okay

The stay was fine, I did have issues with how I had to make the reservation. I couldn't just call the hotel and make the reservation, I had to go through Hotel.com which charges me for that. Then I was charged for however many days I stayed, plus fees, and extras. Which made the stay way more expensive than I originally thought it was going to cost. I don't think anything was explained when I was just trying to find a place to sleep. I wasn't there to hang out, just sleep. I was told I would be able to get coffee in the office every day, which was not true. It was open the first 2 days, but was not open after that at all. No one to just ask questions or help elevate any issues. Had to ask for 2 wash clothes because they kept just leaving 1 and there were 2 people in the room. I wouldn't say that I would never stay there again, but I will look for somewhere else to stay the next time I go down. If there were just more communication, I think it would relieve some stress I was feeling during my stay. The pool area was nice.

Clean, helpful host, not quite on beach as advertised on hotels.com (and charged a resort fee) (it's across street), but good value for what we needed it for. There was also an additional service fee when we checked in that wasn't labeled on hotels.com (as all fees were meant to be included) but it wasn't much just good to know.

Old Florida Charm!

Great Old Florida Motel! It's not new or fancy but the accommodations are perfect for a relaxing weekend away. The beach is right across the street, the pool is clean and inviting. Staff was accommodating and kind. We will be back!
