Great Value for the Money

Front desk staff and security speak very limited English, so brush up on your Spanish, you'll need it out in the city anyways. The office staff speak English (Leslie is fantastic), so no worries when dealing with them, but if you arrive late or on a weekend, you'll be dealing with front desk until the next day. Check in with front desk was quick and efficient despite the language barrier. Room was a 2 level "loft", very spacious, modern, and had all basic amenities required (cooking utensils, cutlery, etc.). Towels are clean but look worn, housekeeping didn't do the greatest job (not sure if it was our particular team as no one else seemed to complain about this). Shower had plenty of hot water, but no pressure (this was because the hose to the removable head had a small leak, which was causing the water to leak out from the hole). Air con in our unit was not functioning (we went in October, maybe because it wasn't hot), but an open window sufficed, although you get noise from the street coming in and it can get loud in the morning. Location is key, close to everything you would want to see (as long as you have no mobility issues as it is a lot of walking). There is a supermarket located beside the Merced St entrance, and a few bars and restaurants scattered around the property. Security is at both entrances at all times. There is a metro station a 5 min walk from the property, all in all good value and great experience for our first non-all inclusive.

In old part of city

Lack of English at front desk makes it difficult to get even basic info. Wifi did not work properly . No coffee maker in our room. Otherwise ok

Good stay

fully furnished kitchen with a fridge and bar table. The bed is comfy. The TV channel is okay and the only negative is the slow internet at times. It is not the fault of the apart hotel though. The owner deserved credit for the maintenance of the room, and offered a electric transformer for my use. Well done !

Pluses and Minuses

I was worried about checking in (late-arriving flight) based on previous reviews, but my key and welcome packet were waiting at the desk upon my arrival. The 'hotel' is a block of rooms rented out in a four-tower condo complex. Several companies rent rooms out there, but at least 50% of the residents are full-time tenants. The apartment interior was very nice - full kitchen, small living room, balcony, and a floor-to-ceiling sliding door to enclose the sleeping area. Bathroom off the sleeping area. Small TV with lots of English- and Spanish-language channels. Major supermarket immediately next door at the Calle Merced entrance. The staff in the Costa Bellas Artes office were very nice and helpful; the gentlemen at either tower complex entrance, much less so. This facility may pose a bit of a challenge for people who speak little to no Spanish. Note: If you need to store luggage or have a taxi called for you, do it at the Costa Bellas Artes office. The regular tower desk staff will not offer either service. The location is very good - you can walk to Plaza de Armas, the Museo de Bellas Artes, Mercado Central, and the Lastarria neighborhood.

Exceeds Expectations!

The hotel staff spoke English rather well. When I needed something, they were on top of it pronto! The kitchenette was well supplied with pots, pans, and utensils. There is a supermarket in an adjoining building. Across the street to the rear of the hotel was a Chinese, Indian, and Chicken restaurant. All were good. There was always a taxi available either to the front or rear of the building. The closest subway station is three blocks to the south. A coin operated laundry is available in one of the buildings so you can pack light. As far as I'm concerned this is "home" in Santiago. I travel a lot. I find this place to be an exceptional value for the money.

We got outraget, this is not a hotel.

First of all, this is not hotel. There was even a receptionist at this hotel; we were met by the building's security that handed us an envelope with the room key. Coming into the room, we had booked a double bed and they gave us a room with 02 beds, one in the fourth and another in the living room. The room was filthy. There were even sheets on the bed or even clean sheets available. We tried to talk to someone for more than 2 hours and there was no one there. As us, there it was 3 other persons who were also deceived and were outraged. The rooms is nothing like as you see on the pictures. We had to leave this hotel immediately.

Not a hotel at all

A total joke. Our reservation detailed the room we were to receive. Got no where close. What we did get is poorly maintained and was filthy. Our climate control system was a window with no screen and a fan. This is not a hotel. Operates more like a hostel, no services. No name on the street, just a address. You walk in and some unfriendly guy clears you to go to room 805b.knock on the door to get a woman who gives you a envelope with a key that is your room in a different building. Get to room. It's a dump that doesn't remotely match what your reservations say. Can't call because the two phones in the room does not work. March back to other 805b, woman gone, locked up. I realized this was Christmas so was expecting minimal service, but this was pathetic. Room had half roll of to, just two towels. There is nothing redeeming about this place. Stay somewhere else.

The room was A basic self contained apartment. Perfect I you require privacy for your stay. Building was overall secure with security guards at street gate. Only blocks from a great street for eating (lastarria) and shirt walk to Bella vista.

Lots of noisy kids as neighbors

This is not a "hotel." It's a large apartment building in which "the hotel" owner has reserved a certain amount of apartments for the use of guests. Most other dwellers are long-term, mostly between 20-30 years old, college kids mostly. Every night of my stay there were parties through midnite-1 am, and since the rear of the buildings in the complex all face each other, you are subject to be affected by noise in any one of the buildings, as the windows are open. I would not recommend for single women, as there is no security except for the sleepy doorman of the apartment.

Very pleased with this apt. A secure building in the central area. Easy access to metro and walking distance to local sights. Large grocery store next door. Tour pickup at the front lobby. Checkin staff were very accommodating and helpful. Wish we had asked for more local info before wandering off each day. Would definitely stay here again.

Comfy and self-contained

Decent priced apartments in a new block. Comfortable with cable TV and wireless internet. Self-catering options a bit limited by lack of utensils in the kitchen. Location handy for tourist sights in the centre and Bellavista. Overall recommended above similar priced hotels in Santiago.

Great Apartments

This place is much more like an apartment than a hotel. It was very informal, but after our initial room was small we were changed for a much bigger room. It was spotlessly clean and felt like someone's home in the city. The location was amazing so close to the metro and the city centre. If you want to feel more like you are living in Santiago, rather than visiting, then this is the place for you. Value for money wise, we could not say better.

well located

Layout of appartment curious - one big two story space a narrow stircase goes up to bedroom bathroom area - downstairs is kitchen and TV (didn`t work). Location superb. English spoken by one person- not available on WE. No airconditioning. Lights outside make sleeping hard. Supermarket close by. Internet close by. Apparently you need to make up own room - OK. Nearby restaurants a poor lot. On Sundays most things closed.

The only "complaints" I would have are: 1. that there was no climate control in the apartment. This can make it quite hot in summer. 2.And also that the gym (health centre) has one multi-purpose machine which was broken. Other than this, the apartment was superclean, serviced daily, and I felt totally safe and secure. It's right in the middle of downtown, so most things you want are pretty close. There's an (expensive) minimart pretty much next door to buy essentials. The admin staff were easy to deal with when minor problems arose. I really liked this place and will return. It's kind of spoiled me, as nowhere else in Chile has come close to this.

Good Value Modern Apartment in Central Santiago

This apartment was excellent value in central Santiago. (may have been on offer when we booked?) Don't expect too much (it is not 5 star but very good value for price & nicely modern) & you will be pleasantly surprised. We extended our stay twice. Small kitchen, microwave, stove, toaster; downstairs; leather sofa (OK for 2 people) and flat screen tv with some american channels, small balcony. (possible to stand & take in air rather than sit). Upstairs bed (clean linen) & modern bathroom. Cleaning seemed a little late in the day sometimes but not a problem. Only comment, we asked them to remove rug on ground floor, which they did without problem, so we benefited from nice wooden floor rather than textile (which guess was not really to our taste & did not look in the best of condition)

In the center of the center of Santiago

Our room was a loft with a bedroom upstairs and a small kitchen. It is a small appartment in a building that has both regular appartment residents and hotel type guests. The downstairs desk gave us the keys and internet codes, but they didn't speak much english. The office is located in another unit and is only open during business hours. We could not find any english language channels, but did't look very hard. The unit is right in the heart of the city, a block away from the pedistrian streets of the main shopping district and a few blocks from the plaza de armes. You just can't get any closer to the action. The unit was clean and comfortable and the maid cleaned it nicely every day.
