At first glance, the area seems "shady", in actuality, we felt totally safe. The area appears to be developing. There is a highly rated breakfast spot just steps away.
The customer service was above and beyond! Many questions answered, suggestions given, and help with our bags (I'm a notorious overpacker).
The room is very clean, the bedding is comfortable, and plenty of towels are available. The bathroom is small, but it works.
The beds were typical hotel "queens" and felt more like full size. The room has a ton of space and could easily accommodate two couples or several friends.
The bar situation was loud, but I was able to sleep. The more weird thing was a stand-alone garage across the street that had massive speaker blaring music for no apparent reason.
Unfortunately, my husband and I got food poisoning our last night. A late checkout was denied, leaving us sick and on the streets at 11 am. We couldn't board our cruise ship till 3pm. Needless to say, it was rough! Obviously, it's not a common problem, but a consequence of staying at a boutique hotel.
