Perfect beach spot

It's a perfect beach spot. In addition to being close to the beach it has a lot of other great features. It has an outdoor shower, backyard, patio, beach chairs and toys.

Sunny Family Time

Really enjoyed the Law and Tourmaline beaches visible from the deck and the roar of the ocean waves at night. We could walk to the beach and watch the abundance of surfers. The property was perfect for our family--comfy beds and everything we needed to cook a light breakfast and snacks. We loved the artist vibes!

Very pleasant

The property was exactly as it was described on the website. We loved the spacious rooms and the balcony was absolutely amazing: we spent many hours talking, eating, reading and napping under the California sun. The kitchen was nicely equipped. Unfortunately, pots, pans, dishes and glasses needed to be washed before using them as we found remnants of food in most of them. We were grateful for the functioning dishwasher. It was also nice to have washing machine and dryer even though we had to use a wrench to turn the former on (tiny inconvenience). Overall, we loved it. Even our senior pups were impressed.

Family fun at "Above the Beach"

This home was everything that was promised and more. It was a perfect vacation. We will definitely be booking another trip to visit San Diego in 2023! Thank you for making this possible for myself and my family!

Location is excellent

We wouldn't change anything about this home other than not wasn't quite as clean as it should be. Overall, it was , but windowsills, deck, windows all need a good scrubbing. However. The beds are very comfortable and the sheets are a good quality. The views are magnificent. Neighborhood is very quaint close to everything and a half a block from the beach. We will go back for sure.

Great stay in great location

This home is all about location as it's an easy 5 minute walk to a very swimmable beach and only 5-8 minute drive time to tons of restaurants and bars. Everything about the home was as advertised and it's very comfortable for medium size family. A couple of quibbles...1) There is no AC or fans in the home so it got very warm in the back bedroom even with us opening windows and doors to let cool evening sea breeze in. A portable fan or 2 would help circulate air better. 2) They supply the worlds thinnest paper towels so you end up using a ton of them. I can't imagine that a slightly better brand would negatively impact their monthly profit margin. 3)We couldn't find any "beach" towels so we used some of the bath towels which worked OK but we felt bad using them. Otherwise, really nice place and we'd stay here again in a minute

Great location and view, but some draw backs

Pros: -Location - great location in Pacific Beach - about a 10 minute walk along the board walk to the main strip with restaurants, shops -Ocean View from the deck is excellent -Nice living room and kitchen -General space is great for 4-5 adults. -Nice supply of towels. Cons: -Cleanliness - the place seemed like it hadn’t been vacuumed or dusted in weeks, if not months. Floors were dirty. -Bathroom in the hallway only has a tub - no shower. This was not clear by the listing. -Bathroom shower in the master bedroom - slow drain which causes inches of standing water while you are showering. We let the property management know of this on our 2nd day, and asked if they could send maintenance out - they said someone would, but no one ever came and they never communicated with us again. -Washing machine has a broken knob. -While there is no AC which is clearly listed, they should provide more than one fan. At minimum, one fan per bedroom. We stayed at the property during a hotter week in August and had to buy our own fans just to sleep at night.

Great Stay

We had a great stay here. 4 adults and two toddlers - plenty of room, close to the beach and Boardwalk. No complaints, we had a wonderful time!

Beautiful home, beautiful location

Beautiful home, perfect location to everything in PB! Very comfy beds as well! The porch area makes the stay so relaxing. Only thing I wish was different was a good supply of toilet paper, dishwashing soap, and garbage bags!

Location!

The location was great , it was about a 3 minute walk to the beach.The area was quiet , and the neighbors were very friendly. Even at 10 pm We felt comfortable walking to the beach to see the waves. It was a short walk to get to shops, and food. The house itself was unique, it had a very homey feel to it. We loved being there. It could have been a little cleaner there was dust in crevices of the coffee table, the high touch areas on the cabinets were sticky. We had to wash the top sheet from the first bedroom, it was dirty, with dust?? Over all it should have been much cleaner, the house and the patio. The washer had to be turned on with a wrench, and the front bottom panel had rust. The 2 bathrooms were great, but there is only one real shower. Communication could have been better. Would I rent the house again? Yes I would, the location and the beach were perfect. It just needs a little TLC. Bonus, there is an outside shower to to after the beach.

Great location!

Loved our stay at Above the Beach! The location to the beach was priceless. Also really loved the balcony and views of the water from the house. The house is not new and perfect but was not described as such. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks for sharing your space!

Cute and comfy

We had a nice stay. The place was clean, cute and comfy. We loved the view from the patio. The kitchen had what we needed, Other than dish towels. There also was not any laundry detergent. We were also informed an early check in was available, but at the last minute that was not the case. Overall, a nice place but communication could have been better.

Great location

This property is very cool. Beautiful neighborhood, loved all the artwork. I think it could have been cleaner, especially the windows. I was also surprised that there were no screens in the windows but I’m a New Englander, we have bugs! I would suggest providing fans, the house warms up with the afternoon sun. Great trip.

Four star stay

Great location and comfortable family home with views to die for. Three minute walk to one of the best beaches in SD, yet nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood - a rare find in Pacific Beach. Home was comfortable and well appointed, if a touch dated. Great deck with wide views of the water. Plenty of room for the six of us. Looking forward to staying again soon.

Perfect location

Above the Beach rental is just around the corner to the Pacific Ocean. Well stocked kitchen, clean condo and ocean breezes await you at the condo. Quiet neighborhood and you can easily walk to a variety of restaurants.

Goddess Energy

This space was great for a girls weekend- everything from the beds to the views was perfect. We appreciated the femme power energy in the art and furnishings but also the practical pieces like the beach chairs and smart TV. We were able to walk everywhere. Sunset at the beach is a must!

Wonderful getaway!

Wake up to the sea breeze and waves crashing, only a block away from the Pacific Ocean. That block provides some privacy from beachgoers, and convenience for visitors. You have a coveted parking space in Pacific Beach. The upstairs of this home is perfect for a family; not too big, and enough space with a master bedroom, and two other bedrooms (one with bunkbeds, and one with a queen); sharing a spacious bathroom. You could LIVE on the balcony, with a big table, and views of the ocean and sunset. I can't get back to this location quick enough! :)

Loved the Mermaid House

Great location, only one block from the beach! Quiet neighborhood, but close to all the action. Great restaurants nearby. The house is well equipped in the kitchen and also had necessary things for the beach. We really enjoyed this property and we would stay here again.

Great long weekend at above the beach

We enjoyed our stay at above the beach. Two blocks from the beach and a few blocks from commerce was awesome, and we also loved the art throughout the home. The staff was great and very responsive. Thank you!
