Unexpected and Disappointing Experience – Please Double Check Before Booking

We reserved this property for a long-anticipated family trip to celebrate our child’s birthday. The group included more than 20 people, and we prepared food for the full weekend. The booking process was smooth, and we received check-in instructions prior to arrival.However, upon arriving, we were informed by community security that the property was no longer available for short-term rental, and we were not allowed to enter. This came as a complete shock, as we had already paid in full and received confirmation.We tried contacting the person associated with the property, but unfortunately, we were not able to resolve the situation on-site. We ended up without accommodations on a busy holiday weekend, with food and plans already in motion.We contacted Vrbo for assistance and are still awaiting a resolution.I hope this review helps others be aware of the importance of confirming the current rental status of any property, especially during peak travel periods. We wish our experience had gone differently.

False advertising

The property pictured on line on VRBO didn’t represent the actual condition of the property when we arrived. The house had a number of damaged areas, garage was loaded with trash and debris, gas grill was rusted out and not working, oven wasn’t working, difficulty with internet/cable, mattress’s had urine stains just to name a few. Tried to work with both the property manager and VRBO to get a partial credit due to the property not being in the condition advertised on VRBO. Property manager no longer responds to texts or accept phone calls. VRBO doesn’t support the consumer point of view when we shared photos of the property and the condition it was in to ask for VRBO’s assistance for some type of refund. Great learning experience from us that in the future if you arrive and the condition of the property doesn’t meet the standards you should contact VRBO immediately and try to find another property. Dates of our stay 4/6 to 4/10/23

Terrible stay - false advertisement - needs to be taken down until up to standard

We were unable to properly utilize a majority of what was offered in the listing. We received a message timestamped through VRBO 49 minutes before check in to “warn us“ of the issues even though the host knew we were traveling from out of town with a large group (we spoke on the phone prior to our stay), by this time we had already traveled to this town and were likely unable to find accommodations. This home should not be listed and available for rent without certainty of all facilities in the listing in working condition, especially clean, hot, running water and working toilets, to accommodate a party of our size (12 people). The issues we experienced are not just creature comfort issues or complaints due to preferences, many of these items highlight concerns with sanitation and safety which is not appropriate for a professionally listed home rental. The following is not an exhaustive list due to the character limit: Issues with our stay: - Downstairs patio door in the kitchen did not lock - Kitchen sink does not work, no running water - There was 1 working toilet and 1 adequate shower and 1 poorly working shower for 12 people - In addition, calcium deposits have sprayed into some of our eyes and onto our clothes when attempting to assess water pressure throughout the house in areas that were not properly marked as a hazard. - Propane tank low on gas grill so no steady flame and unable to cook on it - Wi-Fi did not work - No workout/fitness room at all

An overpriced nightmare- stay away!

I never write reviews, but I must share the nightmare my group went through. The only positive things I can say about the house are the size and the location. Overall, we had a terrible experience. Our guests were worried to come, as the host requests you to withhold information with the in person security guard, and not mention you are visiting a rental property. Upon arriving to the house, it was extremely dirty. The floor was covered in crumbs and dust. We could not walk around the house without shoes. It is clear cleanliness is not of priority to the host. There were small flies everywhere and we had to bring our own fly traps. The main issue though, stems from the functionality of the house. One of the doors did not have a knob on one side. The balcony is not usable due to a large hole in it. At the time of check in, the host messaged me to let me know 7 of the 8 bathrooms are not working. Then followed to say the plumbers are working on the issue and it should be taken care of soon. Only for us to arrive, and only 1 of the 8 toilets works. This was extremely disappointing to us as the main reason we got this house was to accommodate a large group. This booking was extremely expensive and not worth nearly as much as we paid. Too many issues and shortcomings on the host. Strongly do not recommend. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

No Plumbing on day 2

I was worried about booking this property based on the reviews, but it appeared to be what I needed for my event so I went with it. The host was very responsive even before my stay. The home and the neighborhood are beautiful. We had no issues checking in. The security at the gate were respectful and we had no issues. The home was clean and had all the amenities one would expect from a high end rental. On the first day, we were unable to connect to the wi-fi. The host was very responsive but we were unable to trouble-shoot the issue. It was no big deal though. We just dealt with it. On the morning of day 2, the plumbing went out. Yellow powder and pellets were shooting out of the faucets and showers. The host responded immediately and sent a handyman out. He was unable to resolve the issue. Long story short, 2 plumbers were sent out who spent all day at the property but were unable to get us a single working toilet (there are 8 bathrooms) or running water. The water softener had exploded and clogged the entire homes plumbing. The plumbers tried to resolve this and were in constant contact with the host. I had to rent a port-a-potty as we had over two dozen out of town guests and no bathroom. This was an unfortunate incident that ended up costing us over $1000. Some of our guests were sprayed by the yellow dust when they went to shower so we had to get then hotel rooms to shower. I am requesting a refund for the second day of my stay and the port-a-potty rental.

WORST VRBO EXPERIENCE EVER!!

I never write reviews but I had to for this one. First, please don’t fully trust the pictures posted as these are the same pictures used from when the owner bought the property. Property is in need of a significant amount of exterior/interior maintenance. SUMMARY OF ISSUES: - property not adequately cleaned from prior guests (including broken glass and trash left) - WiFi not working on arrival - Main great room electrical issues (spent significant amount of time troubleshooting circuit breakers and had to wait for a handyman) - No key to property during my stay (was told that the neighborhood is safe so should be fine) -This is the major one…had 12 guests and no hot water for the ENTIRE stay on one half of the house which included the kitchen, master, and upstairs bathrooms on that side. Was told by handyman that the water heater was broken. Owner was made aware but never addressed. - FYI there were other smaller issues but the main ones are listed above. In summary, I had all of these issues and greedy owner did not even offer a partial refund for the inconveniences. Will be taking to small claims court.

Misleading Listing

Front gate is not aware that this is a rental and would not let some people in... upon arrival there was no key in the lock box like described on check in process and did not know how to get into the house until WE contacted the owner after multiple failed attempts to contact them. There is a hole in the balcony floor- which make it completely unusable (there's a note stating not to go out there), Most of the doors and windows do not latch/ stay closed.. There was supposed to provide instructions on how to use the master shower and never got them, which led to someone burning themselves with the scalding water. Multiple attempts to contact owner for questions and help and they did not answer their phone OR messages on VRBO. The house looks nice and the amenities were fine but these small details made it for a terrible stay for our team... we will not stay here again.

Dirty House in Disrepair, No Hot Showers, Disappointing Experience,

The Good: - The house was huge and could accommodate a large group comfortably. - Check-in and Check-out were seamless. The Bad: Everything else. - The house was generally dirty (film on windows, removeable eyelashes left in shower, food in fridge, etc) - The hot water did not work for much of the house. I contacted the owner and they replied once before ignoring me. We eventually found a hidden room off the garage with a circuit for the water heaters, but even after fixing that, only half the showers got warm and none got hot. - The house lacked basic amenities including paper towels, only had 2 coffee cups (for a house with 6 rooms), etc. - The listing had 7 bedrooms and a workout room, the house had 6 bedrooms and no workout room. - The house was in general disrepair, including tiles falling off, holes in the patio/porch roof, missing appliances in master bathroom, etc. I do not recommend staying here. There were several options available for a similar price in the area that could have accommodated our group and we really regret not choosing a different one.
