We love this hotel

Our room was clean and newly remodeled. We had an issue with the microwave in our room and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We also enjoyed the pool and the sauna. We have stayed here many times and will continue to!

I was in town for Ironman. Overall our stay was adequate and met our needs, but a few issues: The beds, bathroom and pool area were clean but the drapes were not, and there were large collections of dust visible from the second floor looking into the lobby. There was a very noisy fan in the bathroom that came on whenever the light was turned on, which was irritating. There was minimal conditioner in the bathroom dispenser when we checked in, which was awkward when it ran out mid-shower. On the plus side, staff were friendly and helpful, particularly in assisting with my bike and providing bananas in the early morning hours on race morning. Free parking was readily available. Included breakfast was great, open until 10 am, with pancake and waffle makers. Unfortunately food options were otherwise very limited after that. Without access to a car, it would have been very challenging to get to restaurants. The Yard was one great nearby option with numerous food trucks and nice seating, indoor and outdoor. There is lots of strip mall fast food about with fairly short driving distances, if that’s your thing. The pool, hot tub and sauna were greatly appreciated amenities. The cost of the room was quite high given the age, state and location. I stayed in Hyatt House in Portland which, I must say, was much better value for a similar price.

My Choice for Work Getaways and Family Stays

As a Choice Privileges Member, Comfort Suites Salem has become my go-to hotel. I often book my family here when they visit from out of town, and I also use it as a personal retreat when I need to step away from my home office to focus on work. After spending two nights at the hospital with my son, who was seriously injured, I needed a quiet space to regroup and get work done—this hotel provided exactly that. Clean, quiet, and consistently professional. I highly recommend it for both business and family stays.

It didn't disappoint

We liked that the pool closes late at midnight and opens early at 5am. We had a few hours to relax in the hot tub and sauna after a long drive. Breakfast also good and will get you through next meal. Overall good!

Very slow check-in process. There were people yelling at the staff and the staff never addressed the issues with a parking mix-up. They should have validated their parking and made it easier for the people to leave, but they instead argued with them creating a very unpleasant scene.
