The property has been clearly cherished and carefully refurbished. It will appeal to architectural purists - beautiful round skylight over the stairway, the single piece of polished concrete in the dining area, tasteful combinations of old and modern etc. The location is good for the market. It is a fair uphill walk back up from the main Porto attractions on the river which was fine for us but could be more challenging for others. There is a small supermarket at the end of the street. The breakfast arrangements could be spelt out a little more clearly. Breakfast is served downstairs. Only when other guests began to order omelettes etc did we realise that orders were actually being taken. Other than that, it was fairly basic - scrambled eggs are served on a small side plate, omelettes the same. Once you get your head around that, its fine, but it is not four star as some reviews have stated. It offers a basic, clean and very friendly offering, set within a very well-refurbished building.

A really fantastic hotel with great staff who were also very helpful. We really enjoyed our room although it can be a little noisy with passing traffic or street cleaners. Great location near the metro and the main historic sites. Would really recommend!

This was a very unique property. Very comfortable bed, with decent amenities, however the housekeeping was limited to bed making. Also we did not recieve the Expedia bonus of a "bottle of spirits", it was not mentioned. Great price point, huge room, weather did not comply to using the garden.

The hotel is very clean and close to the tourists attractions. We had a large and comfortable room. This hotel doesn’t have an elevator, something to keep in mind if someone needs it. The breakfast area is well decorated, the staff is very pleasant, but the menu options are limited.

Lovely property right near Rue Santa Catarina shopping district and Mercado Bolhão. I had a fantastic room on the third floor (no elevator) with a giant balcony. Perfect! Room does heat up in the afternoon but that was to my preference. Great little minimart right around the corner from hotel as well. Easy walking distance to any of the main sights and districts. I liked the keypad entry to both the hotel and my room so no messing with a room key card. Kind, helpful people at the hotel. Was sorry to leave and would definitely stay again.

Malmerendas Boutique had everything I needed and beyond. The staff, Mary and Hudson went out of their way to make sure my stay was flawless. Hudson was an amazing host. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Malmerendas! I only regret we didn’t book a longer stay! This is a beautifully renovated large home that has been designed in a minimalist Scandinavian style. It is centrally located and comfortable. We experienced every comfort and personal touch set forth by the staff. It was perfect for our family of three. The staff were there to assist with everything we needed. We used WhatsApp to communicate. They were truly delightful; warm, and thoughtful, from start to finish. From the time we booked the team communicated with us about our booking, inquiring about our arrival time, room preferences, etc. Upon arrival, the host greeted us and held our bags while our room was being prepared. We wandered the plentiful shops and restaurants in close walking distance. We received a text when our room was ready, a few hours before scheduled checkin (3pm). The host had already delivered our bags up to our room when we returned. The room was well appointed - a complementary bottle of port greeted in our room with a welcome note to our family! Breakfast was offered 830-1030 daily of fresh Portuguese baked specialties, cooked to order eggs, fruit. yogurt, coffee etc. There is a small garden in the rear of the house with a quiet sitting area and a small family of cats. The host learned that my son loved cats and invited him to help with feeding time which made his trip complete! We recommend Malmerendas with highest praise!
