PORTHOLE: Private, Peaceful with an outside locked patio, perfect for bikes.

Sorry about this, but the "small-print" needs to come first"

PLEASE NOTE: Provisions for cooking are limited; Keurig, hot water pot, microwave and small BBQ - that's all. Occupants are limited to two total. Undeclared additional guests are charged at $100 per person per night including children of any age - charged through VRBO as an "extra bed" and due immediately. There is one security camera focused on the interior portion of the outside entrance door in order to ensure security integrity of the apartment. Use of the general property is limited to the Porthole's dedicated outside patio and does not include the rest of the grounds. The Park in front of our house offers a convenient place to smoke if needed. (Smoking is not allowed in the apartment or the attached patio area.)

PLEASE BE ADVISED - This is a basement apartment. The main floor has hardwood floors and is occupied. Main floor occupants endeavor to be quiet when the Porthole is in use.... However, you will, unavoidably, hear footsteps and limited sound from the unit above. (If this is a potential problem for you, do not reserve Through The Porthole)

NOW TO THE BEST PART
This the best three room "motel suite" in the county, minus the motel - we checked. You will love the privacy of this suite with it's own outside covered patio, perfect for storing your bicycles. It's a great hideaway for a good nights sleep in our King sized bed. Explore the wonders of Port Angeles and the Olympic National Park. The apartment is a short walk to downtown, the Olympic Discovery Trail, two markets, a Starbucks, the Coho Ferry and the Field Performing Arts Center. Your hosts, Amy and Brent, live on the main floor and are eager to make sure your stay is the very best. PLEASE NOTE We have a 3yo Border/Poodle (Winnie) who's tasked with the security of the estate. You may occasionally be aware of her presence. We hope you can come and see.

Loved our stay
Very impressed with the exceptional interior design work with very nice art pieces and well chosen color scheme. Liked the unusual touches. Enjoyed the treats in the basket. Will come again if ever in the area.

Great Location-Super Cozy Spot
Overall, the stay was great. Only 4 stars as you can hear those on the floor above you and there was male voice that carried pretty loudly when I was trying to go to sleep. Highly recommend bringing ear plugs. Also, there is body wash provided but no shampoo or conditioner so if you plan on showering, make sure to bring those along. I had to buy from the local general store.

Fabulous location and super responsive hosts
This beautiful location sits above the “zig zag” stairs into downtown Port Angeles at the end of a quiet street. Fabulous for touring around town and/or the Olympic peninsula and walking distance to the Victoria ferry (provided you don’t mind the walk back up the stairs. Many landings to turn around and take in the beautiful water view). Through the “porthole,” the decor is charmingly nautical and comfortable. The hosts live on site and accommodated our needs within minutes. They get a big “thumbs up” from these active “seniors”.

The space was really nice & clean. Only stayed one night as we were on the ferry the next day for Victoria. Meet the owners and they were very hospitable.

Perfect home base in Port Angeles
The Porthole was a perfect home base for exploring Port Angeles, Olympic National Park, and ferrying over to Victoria for a day. We stocked the mini-fridge with food for breakfast and pack-able lunches which we picked up at the Safeway a couple blocks away. We couldn’t get up to Hurricane Ridge (no chains for the rental car) but found some great day hikes near Crescent lake and even wound up driving out to Cape Flattery and Ozette where the trails were incredible. The ferry to Victoria was an easy walk from the Porthole, as is the downtown area where we ate dinner most nights. Next Door Gastropub was a particularly good restaurant, and there’s a great little dive bar called the New Moon Craft Tavern which had live music and lots of friendly locals. We grilled pork chops and zucchini one night on the propane grill which also worked great. The Porthole is a well-crafted little place with a private entry under the house where the owners live. It feels more like a house than a hotel room and you can park on the street right outside the door. The number of towels and coffee pods was way more than we could use, the bed was comfortable, and it was nice to have a living room with a couch to enjoy cocktail hour before going to dinner. Overall, we’re very happy we chose to stay at the Porthole and we miss it already.

Great spot in December.
Nicer than the photos. Though a basement apartment, it was fresh and dry. Stayed 6 nights. Would visit again. Perfect spot for days spent with relatives in town. Also a great home base for the various natural wonders in the area. Winter dining was on the sofa. But summertime meals would be lovely on the small patio in the entryway between the Porthole and the front door.

Porthole was comfortable and attractively-designed with key amenities. It's close to downtown attractions like coffee shops, the waterfront park/trail and the ice skating arena. The kitchen is fully stocked and has a small refrigerator under the counter and a microwave (no stove or oven). If you're tall keep your eyes on the ceiling; there's a low beam we had to be wary of. I recommend it!

Amazing location, beautiful apartment
Amy and Brent are on location if you need them but otherwise leave you to enjoy the immaculate and cute apartment. Location is everything here- quiet and safe, and close to everything. You can literally walk out the back door and into town. The price is extremely reasonable. I’d recommend the Porthole in a heartbeat!
