We all tend to shy away from new listings, but this one looked good and I decided to take a chance. I didn't appreciate when I booked what a great location this is---just a few houses down from the top of Mt. Washington overlooking downtown, and close walking distance to the Monongahlea Incline and the Shiloh Street shops/restaurants. A lot of the area was built in the late 1800s. There are some cobblestone streets around. The property is in an old house---I don't know if it's as old as some of the buildings on which there are dates. The apartment occupies part of the house (an end, with windows), and is newly remodeled. The host, Saranyaa, put a lot of detail into the remodel and includes some nice extras such as artwork, iron/ironing-board, kid's high chair and porta crib, tupperware, and so on. We cooked a fair amount and found the kitchen well stocked. Saranyaa is clearly committed to providing a quality guest experience. There's a great take-out pizzeria (Joe Cestone's) within about a 2 minute walk, which we made good use of, and a Rite-Aid across the street from that. Parking in that entire area is all on the street, and was less of an issue than I feared. The streets are narrow and the curbs are low, so people park half way onto the sidewalk. There are no parking meters. Pretty much anything goes so long as you don't block anyone's driveway (of which there are a few). We were able to find close parking spots each time we looked. Twas a great time.
